hi folks

i bought a damaged 03 saxo 1.1 to repair and to teach my grandson about motors instead of getting in bother on the streets but have been shocked by the price to have it jigged , i was told i could pick up an undamaged if not new shell for less than the repair , great i thought :wall: the problem is i can't find a shell with papers anywhere any idea where to look ?
years ago buying a new shell seemed pretty easy :panic:

Rolling chassis are often sold off on here. Look around pistonheads, look on sax-p, look on ebay.. I sold mine off for £60 last year with slight chassis damage and four tyres.
On another note a mates selling a uno chassis with no damage to the chassis.

could cut you numbers of and put them on new chassis not sure if thats legal but i know thats what the mini lads use to do when they would reshell there minis as a new shell comes with no numbers so have to use your own

on the proper minis it was easy to change over due to the main plates being riveted on

the changes that came around to aving the vin stamped was all due to the amount of ringing going on dureing the late 80s early 90s

and there is hidden identifiers on most cars these days to tie in variuos parts

ie murchalago has a plate behind the brakes which is very hard to get at, even harder to change and is there for a reason.

its completely illegal to change the identity of a car/shell.

it may seem harmless if you genuinely need to change the shell for another you have legitimately bought but to the police and anyone else (vic) it will all seem very dodgy and if the car's original identity cannot be proven it will end up on a Q plate.

thats exactly what criminals do to hide the identity of stolen cars and sell them on.

latest update:panic:

i''ve been quoted between £500-700 to just to put the motor on a jig to pull the suspension inline , streighten the body and weld in new chassis section and thats it no other parts wing , bonnet or paint etc, i asked him if it was a big job and he no pretty streight forward really , everybody i've spoken too so far think that's well over the odd's, is there anybody in the trade who
can confirm this , i've have been told there is normally a set price just to put any car on a jig normally about £250-350 and then parts is this right

thanks again folks for your reply's
