I may have more BHP than i think as i had a race with a type r last night and beat him by 2 cars length!!

Yates
30th October 2005, 20:41
you beat a 200bhp civic ok then

shaddow
30th October 2005, 20:42
mad isnt it! and i cant imagine his car being broken on a 04 plate, most strange ??

saxx
30th October 2005, 20:44
isnt that dependent on if his car has been run in or not?? i thought 5k had to b done on the engine before u can rag it - gentle revs and acceleration only

Yates
30th October 2005, 20:46
you can rag any car at any time - your not supposed to but you stil cant, and i stil believe a brand new civic type r with 0 miles on the clock would beat a vts

my mates got a civic vti-s which is 160 break, that beats any vts that goes near it

saxx
30th October 2005, 20:48
well if u do ya a prick

you'll bugger the engine

and perhaps this guy doesnt like to thrash his car? and just thought it funny a saxo was tryin

SteVTR
30th October 2005, 20:50
*sniff sniff* yeah i smell bullshit a vts with a few breathing mods isnt going to beat a CTR mate

saxx
30th October 2005, 20:51
or perhaps it was a 'r' look alike

SteVTR
30th October 2005, 20:52
5k i though you only had to run a car in for 1-1.5k n not take it past 3000 rpm while your running then in

shaddow
30th October 2005, 20:54
not sue how many miles it had on it but he deff was givvin it some. what made it odd was he couldnt believe it as much as i couldnt.

saxx
30th October 2005, 20:55
5k i though you only had to run a car in for 1-1.5k n not take it past 3000 rpm while your running then in

my friends ex works in audi and they're customers are told 5k, my mums was 5k too

shaddow
30th October 2005, 20:57
i thought it was a look a like so thats why i made him pop his bonnet and it was deff a type r!
Im not bothered if anyone thinks im talkin rubbish cos i know its true as strange as it may seem.
bet he has it booked into honda on monday to get it checked out ha ha

This is the 2nd thread you have started about racing type Rs. I thought you would have learned from what happened in the first topic you started bout racing.

SteVTR

5k i though you only had to run a car in for 1-1.5k n not take it past 3000 rpm while your running then in

different for different makes of car then

to be honnest i dont believe you much mate round corners etc i can keep close to a type R but on a long straight it gets atleast a car n a halfs length ahead of me then at about 130ish i can get back along side it but no piss all over it

shaddow
30th October 2005, 21:01

shaddow
30th October 2005, 21:04
my last post was not aimed at "stevtr"
all i can say is that i did, not sure how and not sure why but thats what happened. like i said im as confused as you lot and i was just wondering if anyone else has been in the same boat

SteVTR
30th October 2005, 21:05

you'd think that when my mam got her c2 vtr she was told 1k n a lad i kno was told the same for his c2 vts

if i had any CTR i wouldnt bother with someone in a saxo giving it large

saxx
30th October 2005, 21:06

Certi
30th October 2005, 21:07
Well it seems rather odd that a couple of weeks ago you start a thread about how you hit 140MPH!!! OMFG L33T!!! and everyone tells you that your a fanny for goin that fast. The topic gets locked and then you open another thread appologising for starting that thread and that you realised you shouldn't b doing that sort of speed. Then you open a 2nd thread about the exact same thing.

Running in.. P'ah!

Take it easy for first few hundred miles to settle the pistons/cylinders, then open it up more and more...

Engines are well run in before they get to the customer these days.

EXACTLY. it wasn't that long ago that you were told not to take a brand new car over 50mph for the first 1000miles in order to 'run it in'. In fact, most 'performance' cars actually respond better to being 'opened up' after the first few hundred miles.

I dont need to talk to the manufacturers, I dont have a new car anymore. Had several in my time though and have treated them all the same.

Ask any enthusiastic garage, they will tell you that running cars in too softly is bad for them.

calm down things are getting a bit out of hand now,

ive been told by many car dealers that nowadays you dont have to run an engine in as the bit are all sound as soon as you start the car. espesially on hondas as with over 1million vtec engines built and not one going wrong im sure that not all people have run in there engines.

thats just what i have been told.

i really dont see the point in these sort of threads. no one is going to believe you beat a type r and even if you did whats the point telling everyone?

was you racing on the road?thats also nothing to brag about

i know this is a general chat where "anything goes within reason" but i still dont see what the point to it is

WestyVTR

my thoughts are this!

Racin is not good, it causes death! just ask my sis who has held sum1s head together with her hands, while there brains were hanging out... while the other A&E docs performd CPR!!1st point!

VTS Vs CivicTypeR - Provided both were running well Civic Type R everytime! End of!! - the only way a VTS may appear to win in that battle would be if the Rs Vtec system isnt working properly! or its just runnung sh*te... 2nd point

Starting threds on this arnt a good idea it just promotes the "boy racer" stigma that every1 associates wiv saxos anyway... So IMO the community here doesnt need that...! Fareplay if you want to ask the question "how can a VTS beat a Type R".... that may answer your question, but in a more mature sensible unboyracery way.....

hope you can c wot im drivin towards!

( & TypeRs do struggle wiv my sax to 60mph LOL )

THe Focus looks special, THe civic type R is Common as mucm and looks pretty much like a bottom of the range civic. THe Focus is a Turbo, civic is not (well not really any way). The interior is nicer on focus. just a nicer car, IMO.

Technically youd acually be better off wiv an ST170 squire! The FRS was based on the older focus chassie (sp). The ST has the advantage of a newer revised shassie, also has improved Standard equip, pistons are better (forge i think), block is stronger, shassie (sp) is better, suspension is spot on, FFOC acually advise not to toutch the suspension its set up that well! Is the RS really an RS!? im not convinced.... Escort RS cosworth..... Sierra RS Cosworth..... the key word is "COSWORTH" they made the RS badge the1 to have.... ford cant do it alone!! just look at wot they did wiv the focus.... the orange one off special! OMG!!!

think of bolting a super charger or turbo to the ST..... that worth the RS badge!

apparently older VWs arent properly run in til 100k miles! LOL thats wot my VW enthusiast mate told me anyways...(i think its codswallop tbh!)

The VW Golf R32 arent that quick! ive seen them on the track, and they were being beaten by 106 Rallye's! and 205's! (fair enuff these werent standard 106's and 205's... but still!!!)

true! but that would be like me buying say a 206 GTi from say a peugeot dealer, and then sending it straight to Ecosse, where they tune it up with cams, throttle bodies, etc and put a bodykit on it, then calling it a 206 RS... it dont work

saxx
1st November 2005, 00:43
umm not really

as the vw dealer had this built - so he hasnt bought it and taken it to say tsr - the dealers had it done for him!

so imo not the same

but either way its gunna play very nicely with some top notch cars on the road!
