I dont know the technical name for it, but i have smoothed where the boot lock used to be as i have put a boot popper on, i put a piece of cardboard behind the hole & supper glued it in, then i smoothed it & did the best i could do, i gave it a few coates of grey primer & ive now sprayed it quartz silver, where i have smoothed it, its quite dark there & you can see the oval shape, is there anything i can do to resolve this, i'd rather not sand it all down again & its a waste of primer & paint, but if i have to do then i will do so as i like my d.i.y jobs to look half decent, heres a picture if you dont understand what iam on about

have you sprayed the whole thing with primer?
I'm guessing you will probably have to use more primer but unsure, when
you put the paint on it may disappear tho.
Also if you have superglued cardboard onto it will this be strong enough
when you slam the boot not to crack the filler?

To be honest i dont plan on slamming the boot unless iam in a mood & i just pray that the cardboard will do, its well secured in place.
I primered the lot, underside & topside, i rubbed it down with some normal sand paper & then with wet & dry before i sprayed it with primer, its had a good 4 layers of primer & about 4 layers of silver paint.
If you look at your lock on the boot thats how big the hole was.

cardboard wont hold it wil crack eventually.
Your going to need to get that cardboard off and user some fibreglass or something as permananet to support the filler.
Your going to have to sand it down again until it is level. Dont skimp on the prep work its just going to make it harder in the long run as your finding out now

Bummer, where can i get some fibreglass stuff from?
I wont need that much so dont really want to buy alot of the stuff.
Wish i had asked before i started now, but hey, we all make mistakes & learn from them.

you can see that mine has been delocked, only from certain angles and plus the fact that i know what was there before so i can spot it, no one else can, it may just be the fact that you have done it and can easily see it
you can get a little fibre glass kit from halfords

If your eyes are as good as mine you will be able to see where its been smoothed.

If your in a car behind then you wont be able to see it.
Sod it, iam leaving it as is, just needs a layer or 2 of lacker (sp), if it starts to crack then i'll just get some fibreglass or p40 & repair it.
