Hahahaha exact same thing happened to me.

I was literally waving 100quid in their face to tax my car but they refused as an email copy of my cover note was not acceptable.

Had to wait 5 days for insurance docs to come through. Went back and kicked up a fuss saying seen as I am taxing my car 7 days late. My tax is only valid for 5months and 3 weeks. So do I get an extra week? As I am clearly paying for 6 months tax but I am not getting that as you refused to tax me.

She was like errrrrr you will get an 80quid fine.

No I will keep this reciept with the date on which clearly states I have 6months tax from the 7th Feb.

Think she was work experience. Poor girl

insure online?

If you mean tax online, he can't as he has just bought the car and without a shadow of a doubt the DVLA website wont have updated new owner

this happend with me.
i asked churchill to send me a cover note attached to an email, and i printed it off onto normal paper not fax paper.
i tried two post offices and they asked if it was the original and i said no it was a print out of one that churchill has sent me! they still wouldnt tax me.
at the third post office though, she asked me if it was the original, and i said it was a print out, she said thats fine, they just cant accept faxed ones!

yup, as technicaly....it has no owner... they have reported as sold, i have th Log to give to postoffice to change ownership to my name. and at the same time i can tax it.

but there just kicking up a fuss about my insurance being a Fax... even tho it clearly says their fax number, my policy number, that i have been with them all year and just changed the car details.

i even went, check online database that its insured...and said, ill freaking phone them if u need proof!!

if you actually look on direct gov or somewhere it actually says they dont accept copies, it has to be the original document

Only a genuine certificate may be used as proof is what i got told. No fax's or photocopy's

I believe if you look on my insurance certificate(Direct Line) you can see its been watermarked.

Kinda helps when you buy a new car from a dealership and you need a valid insurance document to take the car plus tax it.

Pay for 1 days insurance which you receive a PDF copy of your motor cert which allows you to collect your new car and tax. Then you take out insurance for the following car for 12months.

? thought so.

You're not the worse person thats tried to tax their car at the post office by all means. A member of my family is the manager of a local post office, On a day to day basis retards come in with items such as out of date MOT's coupled with a printout of a quote they got for insurance on the internet.

Like with everything to do with a vehicle, do it the proper way and it'll all be fine. At the end of the day there's always the internets, they check you have insurance over the system and check for your MOT too. Makes sense eh?:y:

I thought of insuring a car on my 17th Birthday, just a random car but by the time i passed i would had '6 months' no claims to my name (Although I'd be driving for a day) Pritty good eh!
