I've had my VTR for 2 years now and fancy something different, plus it doesnt feel fast enough anymore really. So I'm saving up for a GTI for summer, should I? anyone know what they're like? I mean to live with, so running costs etc...
And also, how much do you all think my VTR would be worth?
It's an S-reg phase 1 but it's only on 60,000 miles, full service history to prove, i'm its second owner, hardly any mods, just lowered 40mm all round on spax and a nice exhaust system. Just had a new cambelt and it's pretty spotless really. I was thinking it would only be worth between 1250-1500 maybe if i'm lucky. But was talking to someone the other night who payed 3500 for a 52 plate! In fairness to him it was low mileage and also spotless, so that gave me hope that maybe mines worth more?
what does anyone think? cheers

pay a little more for the GTI and get exclusivity plus the not-as-chavvy rep aswell.

go for the gti mate,
the running costs will be similiar to the vtr just the extra for insurance and a little more on petrol and maybe tax however i am not too sure...
i am in the same position at the minute mate, i want to go for a gti or vts but won't for a few months yet when i can afford a better one...

most 106 gtis are overpriced for what they are. and most owners (from recent experience) are un willing to budge on the price because they think theyre the best thing ever
for this reason, i began looking at VTS's, for less than a 106gti, you can pick them up with low miles, FSH and a lot better condition

Yeah I reckon I will be getting the GTI once i've saved up a bit, got myself a really good quote last night :y: -less than i'm paying now!
And i agree with what someone else posted about the less 'chavvy' image, lol. I will miss my saxo though!

aggreed with what people are saying about 106oc
i post on there from time to time and the cars in the sale section are pretty overpriced but some say the gti is a classic ect

that is fair comment.. to be honest if you want a car cheap enough if you have to keep on the ball for new adverts aswell as travel!

106:- http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/910796.htm
£4,000 is a joke for that!!!
Saxo:- http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/916475.htm
Less miles same sorta spec for nearly half the price!
getting a gti isnt really something different.
but if your happy with the vtr but want more power, get a vts and buy gti leather with the money youl save over buying a vts ;)
