if you are claiming off another party you should be able to claim the excess to, however if it is off your insurance then no you have to pay it.
saxos are worth fuck all atm aswell.

pretty sure an excess is an excess no matter what i'm afraid.
you'll get offered an amount on what the insurers see the market value of the car being but i wouldnt take their first offer. very few eople do. from what i've heard you get 3 offers which you can accept or not. not sure what happens after that.
im in the middle of a claim the now for my vts, declined an offer of £1400 which after my excess and compulsory excess (being under 21) i would've got £925 :n:

You will have to pay the excess, then if it's found to not be your fault(as in you are claiming off the person who crashed into your car) the excess will get refunded when the claim is complete. If you don't know who it was that crashed into your car, and are claiming on your own insurance then you will have to pay the excess.
As for how much they offer you, find ads for similar ones on ebay/PH/Trader and just tell them you're going to need a certain amount(probably £1250 or something) to buy a similar car.

Hope you manage to get a good deal mate. Insurers are cocks but at the end of the day they have to survive.

that also means that that you have to buy your vehicle back off the insurance company but would be worth it if the damage is fixable at a cheap price
insurance are always writing cars off these days for fcuk all damage

I had my Excess voided when it was judged not to be my fault?
Don't understand you should get this back

Its an uninsured loss, so you can claim it back if its not your fault. If its not your fault and the other person admits liability then you can claim through their insurance company and not your own. You wont have to pay excess at all in that case. Your excess may also be voided by your own insurance company if the third party admits liability, as they will claim it directly from the Thirrd Party insurer :)
