depends, if your just going to strip it out like your vtr then just get an S. if you want something a little better inside, then get the Gtaiiiii

na wont be stripping, just want a fairly mint one with lowish mileage that i can do some subtle mods too and aim at getting about 140bhp from

the gti's are a more expensive but if i had the extra cash id prefer one over an S.

GTI's hold there value better, and tbh I prefer them
i wouldnt consider a gti to be honest!
the car doesnt justify the price difference over a vts..
its the same car ! with leather seats obv, that can be purchased easily!
GTi's are faster as they have leather

Vts with Gti interior FTW!Gti's are minted but far too over priced.im actually startin to think that the vts's are rarer than the gti's now especially where i stay.never seem to see any now.

Sounds good mate. Although if money wasn't a problem for me I'd personally take a GTi..

Year...?
its a 2001
all i am planning , whether it be a gti or S, GTi leathers, S rims refurbed and sprayed, lowered, then focus on getting it up to about 150bhp with cam, exhaust, unduction etc

here is an unargueable (is that a word) point.
Standard VTS IS quicker than a GTI, by quite a bit.
It just is before people say yes or no... i have had pulls against gti's and they are just not as quick

Considerin its a saxo site...most people gonna say saxo arent they

GTi looks better though... imo (and i own a VTS lol)

vts, just a cheaper gti without leather
more easy to find with low miles in good condition, all the good condition gti's cost well over 3k

GTI is slower on paper, they are both identical a part from exterior/interior.
The GTI that "lost" to you could've been dead, shit driver or some other reason.

I just had to ask myself the same question a few months ago when i wanted to get rid of my quiksilver. i had owned a saxo vtr previously, and at the time had the 106 quiksilver but could afford something a bit newer/faster. So it was either a 106 gti or a saxo vts :S.
Now i like the look of the 106 alot just as much as the saxo...but the 106 has the half leather...but the saxo has the better dash i here you say lol.
Styling/interior comes down to your opinion.
Performance wise there's nothing in it, same engine, gear box etc.
Tax is the same, however insurance for me was more expensive on the saxo (its a group higher than the gti)
i had £2500-£3000 to spend an i wanted a very good STANDARD example, something i didnt have to spend money on putting right straight away ie 2001 onwards with around 45k-55k on the clock, clean body work, fit engine etc etc but for this money i couldnt find a 106 gti, it seemed like you had to spend £3200-£4000 for this condition 106 gti where as a saxo vts can be had for alot less money in comparison so i plummed for the saxo instead....needless to say i havent looked back since.

yea i do prefer the saxo dash, looks alot more modern imo, but i think im swaying towards the look of the gti, even though i think the saxo looks stronger and more aggresive with the rounder arches... so u really rate the S?

yea lol i saw this on there, if i coud chose a colour it would be that yellow but there so hard to find with low mileage. Also, i want the leathers in the next car, rather than the stripped and buckets, cage etc

Yep its really good mate, get one you wont look back trust me. Dont get me wrong if money was no object at the time i would have bought a gti, but to me it didnt warrent the extra 1.5K i would have had to spend to get the same condition gti as my vts. Vts all the way :y:

VTS, for the price they have everything, and there good looking.... GTI's have a lil more but too overpriced and not as nice looking as the vts (too box'y) so my view is VTS FTW
