New Camera

Hello there folks,

Looking to buy a new digital for the missus for a present.

I know what type im looking for sort of, its the type with a manual zoom.

looking to pay at the most about £350 > 400.

any ideas ?

SLR wise, second hand you can get decent 350/400/450 30/40Ds.

or a new 1000D/500D

The body is the cheap part if going SLR.

The glass is more important. its why I lol at people bragging they have 5D/1D bodies yet shit lenses :P

if she doesnt want an SLR and a point and shoot with manual/digital zoom, panasonic lumix do nice point and shoots, and the canon Ixus range many people also love.

if shes not serious about camers id get her a cheaper P&S or even a Fuji Finpix 'bridge' camera as something to wet her appetite, but not gether lots of dust and waste £££

*Update*

after looking about and a little bit of wallet searching, i decided to go for the Sony Alpha DSLR-A350, for £500 it should get her feet wet in taking pics. Seems to have got a good right up and won't cost an arm and a leg like some i seen £1500 +
