Insurance is up at the end of the month and I've been having a search around. Managed to find a good quote from Bell and there's 2 options:

10 month bonus accelerator - £68.66 per month
12 month annual - £65.90 per month

Is it worth going for the 10 month bonus accelerator? I know its only an extra £3 a month, but when I go to renew and I say I got a ncb from a 10 month deal is another company going to turn around and say "we don't deal with those ncb, only 12 month ncb's"?

Or is it all the same? Would be worth it for an extra £3 as far as I can see

12 month everytime... gives you complete freedom to select whatever insurer the following year.

not with Bell

Im with them and my 10 month bonus accelerator runs out at the end of april.

Sure you will be aware that if you have no claims in those 10 months you get a years no claims.

Now with some companies this only applies WITH that company, but if you check the small print with Bell, or just ask them it CLEARLY states that if you wish to go to a different insurer they will provide you with a CERTIFICATE to say you have a legal one years no claims.

hope this helps :y:

Just the kind of answer I was looking for! Looks like I'll be going with Bell then.

Thanks :y:

right i have been with bell for 2years now and have gained 2years no claims with them however it is on the 10 month bonus accelerator policy...
im just reading the how it works section and it says if i choose not to re-new they will give me proof of the no claims ive gained with them.

all i want to know is will it be a legitimate 2yrs no claim proof that i can atke anywhere or is it proof of the bonus accelerator so in theory 20months of no claims that other insurers wont accept?

Agree.

If you speak to another insurance company and say you have been driving 10 months, but have 1yrs NCB then a lot won't accept it. I fell for the 10 months policy once, it wasn't too bad but did restrict where I could go for insurance but been using 12 months ever since.

Im using a 10 month accelerator policy with elephant so will i still be able to declare a year ncb .

And in my 1st year driving i never received a certificate off my insurance company ??

So should i have recived one or just ring up as my second year insurance just rang them and they verified it ??

I was with Bell on the Bonus Accelerator, and when i finished after 14 months cover i got a proof of no claims discount that Halifax accepted no issues at all.
For young/first time drivers its the berst way to build up the NCB
