connecting to friends

i cant seem to connect to someone on cod4 it just wont connect says "unable to contact host" we tried it on gta and it was fine, any ideas?

i can connect to someone in america but not someone 3mins away! seems crazy!!

i have teh same problem go to network settings look at your connection status or whatever its called and scroll down the list should show you what NAT type your currently using i believe its NAT 1 or 2 you need to be using however i may be wrong, will needed to be changed via the router which someone else will have to supply the info on how to do that

It should be NAT1 if you are connecting directly to the router and NAT2 if you are connecting directly to a router, if you are getting NAT3 then you have some problems.

You will have to do some port forwading if you are connecting through a router. Go to this website and find your router then find playstation netwrok and it will guide you through the steps. If you cant find your router then look at another router and you can possibly guess your way around.

I have noticed when i done lemon191 port forwading for him that it kept saying he was on NAT3 even when it was done correctly. As soon as he changed to a wired connection directly to the router (instead of wireless) it instantly went to NAT2, not sure why tho.

Ohh to view your NAT on your ps3 do this (not exactly sure if this is correct menus to go through).
