if it has been paid for it will be on the database, so the automatic number plate recognition system will know it has tax as far as i know

i'd print out order confirmation and keep it in the windscreen till you get it... just to be safe

you're still not displaying a valid tax disk though, which is the offence

true
although i have been in this situation and the policeman said its fine, he checked it was bought, but just in the post
however, you are still correct unless theyve changed the law to allow for the "in the post" situation, could be a thing dependant on how your local force deal with it

you were lucky to get a sound copper, a jobsworth or one that had a bad day could of quite easily issued you with 3 points

Its fine mate I was in exact same situation this month, and police told me that on their computers it shows up as you have a valid tax and even if they do pull you, you have 5 days to produce it which is the maximum wait for a tax disk in the post anyway so you'll be fine mate.

yep exactly
i guess it does depend on the officer & force in question
it was my fault for leaving it to the last minuite though so i cant complain

As long as you have paid for it it shows up on the database, i can't see it being a problem. They encourage you to pay for it online, they can't punish you for doing so.
I can't see anyone getting a fine / points for not having it on their windscreen whilst waiting for it in the post. I don't think he was lucky to get a sound copper at all - thats just common sense! For a copper to punish you for that you'd have to get a complete cunt tbf.

becuase its actually an offence for not displaying the tax disk. i could go out to my car now, put my valid disk in the glovebox and go for a drive and if i got pulled over the copper would be well within his rights to give me a fine, even if i took it out of the glovebox and out it back on the window i would have until that point been commiting the offence of not displaying a valid task disk.
yes you'd have to find a right cunt of a copper but its still a law thats in place

Not true. The rules have recently changed. You can drive without displaying for 5 days from the date you applied for it if you havn't yet received it. Stop giving out wrong information.

from what some people have been saying due to the new way you can do it online you actually have a time period where you can drive without it showing (as long as its paid for obviously)
im not sure on this - someone will have to confrim
just makes me laugh sometimes. so many people on here go on about doing things so perfectly and "by the book" yet half of them drive around with decats anyway...

of course, when you do get pulled by officer jobsworth just tell him its ok, sax-p said you had 5 days to drive without a disk.
tbh i wasnt aware of any change in the law, i was just advising the lad of how the law has been for years and if someone provides evidence to suggest otherwise i'll hold my hands up and admit my mistake.

lee's right
read them T&C's properly
the only way you'd be able to drive without showing the valid disk, is if you ordered your tax disk on the 31st of the month or below... givin you til the 5th of the month for it to arrive
so he's still commitin an offence
