So angry right now.
Been a good weekend upto now. Had a lovely day with Ruby on Saturday, went and bought a new HD TV, sorted out my room and today I had 2 cars to detail and I also did my own.
Anyways, went out for a little walk with Ruby and Louise, then I nipped out to Tesco Express a while ago - came back and some pikey jealous b*stard has keyed my car ALL the way down the left hand side.
Pictures to come tomorrow, I'm presuming a full respray though as it won't come out with scratch remover or polish.

ive seen it done on a massive scratch before dude.
Luke
15th March 2009, 23:10
Starts literally just after the front wing, then all the way to the rear of the car. The car was FLAWLESS when I cleaned it earlier, now it looks shit.

Not sure mate, surely the scratch would be still noticeable to where it was before I would of thought? My cousins fella has his own bodyshop, going to nip down tomorrow and see what his thoughts are.

If someone is skilled enough they can make it look very good (to those who are not to anal about their paint). Ive seen some very good repair work on keyed cars before, hand painting in the key mark then polishing/cutting it down so its all blended well.

Suppose it depends on how deep the scratch is?
If its really deep, won't it need repainting?
Luke
15th March 2009, 23:15
Cheers Ryan.
Hopefully Shaun will be able to touch it up then and let me save the £££'s. Always happens when you have other ideas to spend it on lol!

as i said, depends how skilled the person is you get to do it.
ive seen some very fucked paint repaired by hand to excellent standard and no need for an expensive respray.

Thats shit. Would guess the plate attracted their attention. No point changing it back now after all the decison making you had to go through, plus the cost.
Lesson learned? Go upmarket to Morrison's :y:

Luckily having a family who owns his own place is excellent, plus his work is top notch.

Feel for you mate mine has been done twice now, as well as my mirrors kicked off. Like its been said if you cant afford to get it painted try a bit of 2000 paper over it lightly then mop up and if it can take the edge off the paint the light wont reflect it as bad.

16th March 2009, 18:11
Full Respray Needed!!
Gutted.
Just been to my cousins and he said it's too deep to polish out and touch up. With it been a silver car, it's a lot harder to able to touch up and make it look okay again plus I want the job doing properly too. Basically he said I need a full respray down the passenger side - as the scratch it near the front wing - he might aswell just blend it into the front wing too, remove the little dent from the rear quarter (thanks to angry me) and will look good as new again. He needs the car for 3 days.
Little B*stards is all I can say! If I ever saw them, I would seriously let loose on them.

Its still 200 quid outta your pocket unless your claiming on insurance? Suppose then you would lose your no claims discount?
Luke
16th March 2009, 22:37
Excess is £350 on my insurance so no point in claiming and yeah, I'd lose my no claims.
£200 is cheaper than usual, but it's £200 down on my insurance renewal fund.

Sorry to see this luke, usually modified vehicles with young kids that get the nasty scratches and considerring the derv looks standard and just extremely clean it's a shocker that it should happen. Just recently a kid tried to scratch my rear quarter panel (caught him on the way home from walking with the dog :fcuk: ), only left a tiny mark... but would have been the second to add to the list if it was deep.
£200 is a sh*tter but I hope you're satisfied with the work. And the worst happens to the sh*ts that did this.
My uncles a driving instructor and his new silver 307 got crashed into last year the driver just drove off... cost him an arm and a leg and the match wasn't perfect neither :n: he was fuming.
Luke
17th March 2009, 07:06
Cheers shooorn, wish I could of caught them like. Like you say, the car is just a regular car really lol.

Update....
Decided to leave the car for the time being. The scratch annoys me but I can't justify spending £200 at the current time, especially as insurance is due on the 1st of May and I have had a really good quote - so I'd rather pay that off in one lump sum instead of paying it monthly.
Shaun said to nip down and he'll put some lacquer on it to protect it for time being until I have the work done - plus when it does go in, I'm going to get a bit more money together and have a few other stuff done at the same time. I'm also 99% certain it happened at Louises, because on the same side of the road Louise has had her scratched (not same day) and 2 other cars have been scratched previously.
On a plus note....I have just been insured on my Dad's company Mondeo, so that means I can use it as and when I like with FREE DIEsel :D

Temtped to get front splitter done silver as it's black now, remove all stone chips on bonnet, repaint back bumper as there is a few imperfections and just get anything tidied up. Debating on boot been debadged too.
Use his card to fill your car up?
I wish, but they check registration usually of the car againist the card. I'll be using his car, with his fuel card - so free fuel basically. He said I can take it wherever really.
