Hey guys.
No there is nothing wrong so dont worry :D lol
Basically ive got ym car booked in to an MOT station on wednesday to have the headlights checked (with my HID's in)
They atre going to check they are allinged correctly AND check if they would pass an MOT.
Now im going to a well knowen company, Nationwide.
And best of all they said there is no charge for this service!!!!
So i will post up the results as to if they can or can not pass an MOT....
Only doing this as i have mine in a few month and want to no, so may be helpfull to some of you out there :y:

Just so you know, my local Nationwide does pass HIDs. Admittedly I do know the guy that does it, however hes very very tight on regs, even failed me for having too many magic trees before.

^ ahahahaha, i have never heard that before. was it for obstructing your vision?
Carl - its only a 5 min job to swap the lights around anyway so its not a major issue to me but would be good if they do pass them

must admit that i had a hid kit with some 6000k bulbs in. and mine failed cause of the beam pattern that my lights gave.

well guys, ive been down today and they are fully legal and would pass an MOT no problem at all.
Was no beam scatter and they wer allinged properly....
So im not bothering to take mine out come MOT time, which is rather soon.
If they DID fail at a different garage, i would just swap them over there and then right??

Good stuff
As for failing an mot with them you would have to pay for that one then come back when everything is put right, and payanother, thats how it works im afraid

hmm i see.....
I might not risk it JUST incase, like people have said, its just a case of swapping the bulbs and wrapping the bare wires.
Suppose its worth the 10 min job to posibly save £40.
Still, its a heads up for people scared of gettin them for the law....

Lies sir, its your legal right to have 10 working days, eg two full weeks, to put your car straight and then get a free retest. If you choose a decent garage they usually give yout 2 free retests if you need em

Garage i worked in didnt do that, MOTs were cheap there though, that were they make money on MOTs and the parts they had to fix what they failed on, if the car leaves the mot test station then comes back they have to pay but if you have the car repaired there and does not leave the test station then you a free re test can be done

Well that was brought in about 2006 if a car leaves the test station for you to repair yourself then when you come back you have to pay for a re test
if the car gets repaired at test station its entitled to a free retest
Tbh if the HIDs did fail, then most places would just give you an advisory to get it done depending on how strict the tester is, smetimes VOSA come and watch tests being done and then they would have to fail it on the spot

at my mot station you can take it away to fix and come back within 2 weeks and its a free retest. it cost me 25 to get a partial retest when the 2 weeks were up though
