Our VTS's car alarm goes off randomly if its left on the alarm.

Anyone else had this problem? is there a way to solve it? Dont really want to go buying an aftermarket car alarm if i dont need to.

Every vts has this problem mate, its the interior sensors they are crap. The best thing to do is, on the center console on the left of the hazard warning light switch is another button that im sure you thought did nothing as i did.

However this simply turns the interior sensors off but all other sensors (doors etc) work as normal.

So to lock the car, press and hold the magic button until the alarm LED lights up solid get out and lock the car using the key fob as normal.

Hope this helps

its a very common problem, everyone i know with a mk2 vts has this problem. if you are lucky then it will be the sensors on the pillars at the top of your windscreen. with my car i got a an autotechnician to adjust the sensitivity of the sensors more than once and it didnt fix it. in the end i bought an aftermarket alarm system.

you can disable your alarm by holding the alarm button down on your dash near the hazard switch, you do this till the light goes on and then you can lock the car with your keys, this will stop the alarm from going off

It used to happen on mine and I got fed up with having to de-activate the interior sensors so I had them ripped out completely. Also it'll be worth to have a look at the plastic bonnet catch as mine had snapped and that was linked to the alarm so with a snapped catch, the car thought somebody was trying to break in via the bonnet thus sounding the alarm.

theres also another way! Just unplug the damn things! Theres a guide on here to disconnect them. Its a black box under middle of dash with a brown plug in it. Have a look for the guide matey!
