For a while now, me and some mates have been very interested in what is known as 'Urban Exploration'.
urbex or UE, is the examination of the normally unseen or off-limits parts of human civilization. Urban exploration is also commonly referred to as Infiltration, although some people consider Infiltration to be more closely associated with the exploration of active or inhabited sites.
Many of these Urban Explorers are also photographers and show a vast interest in 'capturing the right shot'.
The following pics were taken at the same location but by a few different people...

Some nice photos, there was an amazing old school building around here
that i would have loved to get photos of, but it was knocked down a few
years back!!
Will have to keep my eyes open for some more.
Is UE just going into derelict buildings? What do you do it for damo? The
buzz of the photos?

As I'm an Architectural Technician, I suppose you could say I have more of an interest than others.
We are really interested to see what the buildings were used for, how they were laid out, etc... How the buildings have de-terioated over time. Some of the building styles you see then you will never see again as Planning and Building Control regulations prevent you from doing so.
There are so many places out there. It's not only buildings we explore, but bunkers, military, leisure sites, etc...
There is a whole load of stuff on the internet.

bunkers and military places sounds interesting.
Leisure centres are strange places when empty, guess hospitals are worse
tho!
My old school used to have an air raid shelter under the playing fields but
the pitch collaped in one section a few years ago and i'm pretty sure it
has been filled in now for safety after it collapsed

I remember about 5 years ago when i was 14 i remember seeing this thing on TV about infiltration so i checked out a few websites, and me and my m8 had a whackey idea about breaking in to off-access places like open-cast sites, ohh we had fun until we both had a clip off the five-O. But good effort on the guys who capture this stuff

ye its great fun, i used to do it alot back in the day, theres still an old mental people place near mine which is creepy as one room has the word "bob" written on all the walls in alot of different pens and some blood, should of took a pic of it (seriouslly), and when we got into the loft there was a nuse (hang yourself rope thing)
really freaky place, if you see a building or area closed off, try getting into it and look around but dont force entry and you should get away with it, if caught.

It is a buzz. A lot of people do it for different reasons. Some of the shots you can capture are outstanding. It's all about the right equipment, setting and landscape.

The carlsberg brewery is about 3 miles from my house.. my bf went out and took some fab shots of that at night, guess that would fall into the urbex category?
I love that "Manhattan at night" one (the first night one) i'm a sucker for long exposure traffic shots like that! smileys/smiley2.gif

Sorry to bring this topic back up but instead of creating a new one, I thought I'd add to the old. I've come across some more good UE photo's that mates of mine (members on another site) have taken...
