Ive noticed people say on mk2 models that when you lower the front that the power steering has been known to rub on the wheel and eventually brake, Can someone explain which part this is?? or have a picture of where the part is?? As i cannot find anything anywhere near my wheels.. But i would like to make sure it isnt rubbing, wherever it is lol

I think.. Don't quote me on this, It rubs on the steering rack/ gets really hot around that area, eventually melting and making a big mess.

The driver's side steering arm rubs on the power steering pipe which is just above it..Have a look and you will clearly see what pipe i'm talking about..
Get a spanner and bend it out the way.

I've never had a problem - and mines been lowered years!
It leaks occassionaly, but power steering pumps on paxos are shit anyway LOL

look at the steering rack on the drivers side its right at the back of the engine bay its rubs on the ps pipe mine went looks a really tricky job to change coz uve got to go from the ps pump around the back of the engine in to the servo but its not that bad

will be better to do when its not jacked up mate as when u jack it, the sterring arm will drop and the pipe will be no where near it so u wont know how much u have to bend it. Had mine lowered 60mm for about 8 months and my pipe went about a month ago as it had been rubbing, only needs a slight bend. oh and they are about £68 from citroen iir so not the cheapest to replace. and they are a genuine part so thats the only place you can get them

u can get to it from the bay, as you looking at it, it is towards the left handside down the back, there is a gap u can get down

take your air box off and that gives u better access from the right side of the arm. i found it much seasier to see what i was doing and put my arm in behind for ease.

my mate stef had this problem on his vtr , it was the high pressure pipe that rubbed and cost him 130 to replace. you can just move it so it doesn't rub

bloody 130 quid, hes been ripped off DIY should only cost about 40 quid for both pipes second hand off a mk1 and the fluid about 5 quid for a litre

Right, let me get this straight, is it the drivers side that rubs? or both sides???

Drivers side mate thats were the pas pipes are located up to
From drivers side at the wing, look behind the inlet manifold, there will be a plastic cover take that off, just unclips, and look dowm you should be abled to see the pipe and steer, get a person to turn wheel if needs be ;)

was lucky i read about this rubbing issue soon after i lowered mine. when i came to bend the pas pipe, the steering rod had already rubbed through the pas pipe material coating. not enough to cause any damage though
sit the car on level ground. follow the steering rod along from the driver's side track rod end until you see a pipe sat just above it. about 1.5cm thick iirc. as said, mine is metal with a woven material coating. it is this pipe which needs bending out the way
i was told to use a spanner but couldn't get any leverage. so i jacked the car up on the driver's side, placed a skateboard wheel in between the steering rod and the pas pipe where they met, then lowered the car down really slowly using the jack, an inch at a time, kept checking back to see the skateboard wheel hadn't slipped out of place. thus having the same effect of bending the pas pipe upwards. worked a treat :y:
plus with the car back on level ground with a skateboard wheel between, the pipe was bent enough to ensure no rubbing but not bent too far that it breaks or anything
will take a pic later if i get chance

Thanks for that mate, i managed to find it and yes mine had actually been rubbing through.. it had done the same as yours, it had rubbed through the material but not gone through the metal yet so i was lucky i found this.. I got a spanner in and bent it a bit but it wasnt enough and i couldnt even bend it anymore then as it was just bending the track rod down instead of bending the pas pipe up.. So i made a cut out of metal which i placed on the ground and under the track rod.. When this was jammed in place it then stopped the track rod from bending downwards when i applied pressure, so i gave it another go and it worked a treat, the track rod was stuck solid because of the metal i made to hold it up so the pas pipe finally bent upwards a bit more. All seems to be ok now, just glad i found it todau before it had gone all the way through. :D
