Quick decisions needed peeps smileys/smiley24.gif

The area I have booked in the venue for the xmas party is the upstairs VIP area of Arch9 on deansgate lock.

This is all still confirmed, but as Ive been saying I needed to confirm attendee numbers with the bar manager.

The manager has just phoned me to give me a choice... smileys/smiley5.gif

Basically, another party has now booked on the same night as us and would like to book the upstairs VIP area.

Obviously, we have the first booking and they will honour that, but they're trying to compromise and have both parties booked on the same night.

Arch9 has a larger downstairs area, which has doors which open out directly onto deansgate lock itself.

This area is nicely kitted out too and the manager says he will put on a couple of bar staff for us and a DJ. We would have exclusive use of this area until 10pm, then general public would be allowed in.

The downstairs room is considered too big for the other party, which has 10 - 15 people attending... but Im not sure we have enough people for this venue either??

Thoughts/opinions... I need to confirm plans for the room by Friday.

Anyone planning to go to the party but not yet on the confirmed list - I REALLY need to know ASAP!!</font>

smileys/smiley3.gif I think we should stick with the top.

Possible Damo... but then the smaller still group have to go in the bottom area.

Rock and a hard place... smileys/smiley24.gif

Long distance arrangements like this suck arse smileys/smiley17.gif

But... if we have first dibs for the top area, then the party booking that books after us should go downstairs. Or, are they worried that if the other party is put downstairs, that they wont book at all?

Simo

Think they are worried that it will be a waste of a room downstairs, with 10 people in it, a DJ and 2 bar staff...

When I originally looked at the venue I decided agasint downstairs as it accomodates for upto 120 people smileys/smiley24.gif

Will review some of my photos of the place when I get home from work tonight.

Upstairs is cool though.. I know that!

Ahhh I see. Well if they were going to loose out with the other group wanting to go upstairs, then I think we should go downstairs. But it seems that's not really a problem.

Accommodate 120 people? Well... we might as well bring our go-peds and do some doughnuts smileys/smiley2.gif

That is a huge area. How about... we combined the two groups? Do you know who or whay they are? Hairdessers? smileys/smiley2.gif

Why don't you just let the other 10-15 people come and share the top bar with yourselves??

You never know, it might be a load of fit hotties!

If you're not gonna fill the room to the capacity, then let them put the other party in with you (on a different table obviously).

Just a suggestion mate!

Possible Chris, but depends who the other group are smileys/smiley17.gif

The upstairs bar is cosy... and couldnt fit both parties together, which is why the manager is trying to move us.

this is as big as it gets upstairs... just right I'd say, for sax-p.

How many confirmed people do we have atm Simo?

Bigger areas are ok but they can be too big for the number of people. I think 50 people would suffice for downstairs.

Both floors like good though... I'm sure me and Dom will be able to entertain whatever floor we're on. Hehe!

yea but if u booked first why should you be moved?

Graeme
8th November 2005, 19:50
thats a hard one that simo!! i honestly dont mind which one where in! would we have a dj if we were at the top??

DevilDamo

We haven't been asked to move. The management is just trying to accommodate everybody's requirements and with us having a slightly larger group, we could go downstairs.

But to be honest, I'm a free spirit. If there's music, a bar, then I'm happy. And plus, it's the company that makes up for entertainment. The location only equates to a small part. I wouldn't mind if we had the party at your house Si. Hehe!

Was just a suggestion!

Watch ya head on that ceiling after you've had a few jars peeps!

does it really matter?

correct me if im wrong but dont the public get let into both rooms after 10.30 or something so either way everyone will be mingling with non-sax-p members. smileys/smiley4.gif

as long as everyone has a good time!

DevilDamo
8th November 2005, 20:40
But the main question is...

What is this other company!?!

It could either be employee's from a local beauty salon or employee's from a local charity shop. Hehe!

Simo
8th November 2005, 20:42
My thoughts being that upstairs is a nice size and we can look down at the bar area below... interesting smileys/smiley2.gif

If we are in the basement bar we are on our own until the public are let in later on. We wont be able to 'see' anyone else, as the room is underneath the main bar area.

We do have access to the area outside the lock too, like a patio affair, but its probably going to be freezing cold smileys/smiley17.gif

Plan to make a decision tonight and ring them back in the morning/later tonight.

DevilDamo
8th November 2005, 20:46
I would rather be upstairs.

But... if we were put downstairs, I'm still going to have a good time.

Could I just ask...

You said that the general public are let in around 10:30pm. Is that only to the basement part or both floors? When the public arrive, does that mean the music has to stop?

Sax1lora
8th November 2005, 20:47
suppose, you get to spy on your forthcoming company he he.

i dont think it would be coffin dodgers tho Damo, bit to swanky looking for them!

im still counting my pennies to see if i can come or not, will let you know a.s.a.p. Simo x smileys/smiley4.gif

The public get let into both areas after 10pm... but the plan was that the upstairs area would be FULL of us, so they couldnt get up smileys/smiley17.gif

The music is different in upstairs and downstairs rooms I think... it will continue all night, public or not.

Excellent. To be honest i prefere the idea of the top bar.

Simo&gt; Will confirm tonight numbers. Gona ring the travel lodge and sort it out. smileys/smiley2.gif

Chris

I suppose if you are in the upstairs bar you could look down on the bar below and play the 'Guess the bustsize' game. It's all good being a perv and looking down girls cleavages without them knowing.

Make sure you take pics of the sights for us that won't be going!!!

well i got told to convoy with scott but i think ill pass lol.

DevilDamo
8th November 2005, 21:03
Ahhh I understand now. Haha!

I am still for the top part as this will be the last night to enjoy with Sax-p members.

I like these guessing games Chris is coming up with. Shame he can't be there to show us how it is exactly done. Hehe!

What time will the party going on until?
If we were put upstairs, could we have a little trip downstairs and vice versa or are they going to erect an electric fence to prevent us from mixing?

Simo
8th November 2005, 21:07
No, we can mix as much as we like...

Just not convinced about the basement. If a group of people go off to mix, it would look like nobody is left behind smileys/smiley17.gif

Im thinking of ringing and politely saying we'd prefer to keep upstairs. smileys/smiley2.gif

Ok, just spoke to the dude... it appears his general manager has booked this other party into the upstairs room already!! smileys/fcuk.gif

Ive had confirmation now however that as we booked first, with the bar manager, we get to keep the upstairs area... "other peoples plans will have to change".

I think he's a bit gutted though, as he's now got to go and tell his regional boss his booking is fooked smileys/smiley24.gif

Would have liked to help him out, but I really do prefer the upstairs...

Ahh well, unless we hear anything else, we are in the top bar, as originally intended smileys/smiley4.gif

Simo
8th November 2005, 21:24

No deadline 'as such', but people need to confirm ASAP! It is likely that I will have to send some sort of ticket to everyone, to allow entry into the party area.

Details to be confirmed. but as said for AGES, if people are definately coming, or just considering it, put your name down in the thread in the events section. (Thats the official thread)

oz_borne
8th November 2005, 23:43
only just got online, would have said upstairs if possible.

the fact we booked first needs to be held and hopefully his regional manager won't pull rank.

It's hard to say, but i think you're right about upstairs.

We could however at ten, takeover upstairs and just fill it up!!!! it'd be a shame to lose everyone amongst the public downstairs.

9th November 2005, 01:13

DevilDamo
9th November 2005, 17:54
So boss, what's the update?

Simo
9th November 2005, 18:46
There is no update... I agreed yesterday that we would keep the upstairs. The only thing that could change that is if the big boss over rules our initial booking, but I very much doubt that will happen . smileys/smiley24.gif

So, it's all good.
