have then been painted before?

If not, rub them all over with 800 wet and dry,

Give them a good clean (white spirits or similar)

2 coats of plastic primer,

2 coats of colour,

Lacquer (if its metallic)

there is some flaking on the covers now, so is that a sign if they have or not?
They dont feel painted, if you know what i mean.. just plastic

have you got any pictures mate?

The flaking could be because a lot of people just go over the bare plastic with a gloss black aerosol and it looks good for a while but definatly will start to flake.

Preperation is the most important part of any paint job.
