Right I have asked this many times and still nothing is working.

When sat in traffic the car is overheating and the fan is not kicking in. Have checked all wiring and everything is connected and fan has power going too it.

Have flushed radiator, bleed the system. Topped up with fresh coolant and water to correct ratio.

Started car up after bleeding and the fan still aint fucking kicking in.

What else could it be?

Fucked Thermostat?

Fucked Thermostat?

Thermostat takes 2 seconds to check.

Remove it and place it in some hot water. If it opens its fine.

Surely if thermostat was fucked it wouldnt make any difference to fan.

If thermostat stays open coolant is getting into engine so no need for fan to come on or if thermostat stays closed the car will overheat and the fan will kick in.

The car is overheating and the fan ain't fucking kicking in. Can some one point me in the right direction to find my coolant temp sensor? Colour? Position?

Fossie says blue coolant temp sensor.

Click above link.

Blue is coolant temp sens. green is engine temp sens or visa versa.

Why is it all my threads I post about problems its only you that answers.

Cheers for the help

Ordered that green one. Just gonna whack that in when it comes. If still overheats then the car is going in a ditch and being set on fire

the green one is the coolant temp sensor. Blue one is the engine temp for just the dials. On my car anyway.

Id say thermostat.

Give it a good run if youve just done the rad system, and check the water levels.

When i first did mine it kept over heating and losing it all, then topped it up a few times n it worked fine.

Also check the rubber thing on the rad cap, if thats not on properly or broken then it wont seal on the rad and it will piss out of there within minutes of driving.

Thermostat or relay for fan......:y:

I don't understand why it would be thermostat though?

becouse if the thermosat didnt work, then it wouldnt open up n let the coolant ciculate the block. Its always going round the head but not the block irc.

So your block would be hot and then cousin it to overheat. Not sure about the fan not kikin in apart from, the actual motor burnt out or fuse.

Exactly my point. The car is only overheating when sat in traffic.

So the fan relay is not kicking in. So that points to the coolant temp sensor being knackered and not sending a signal to the fan.

If it was thermostat then the car would be overheating all the time even when driving

hmm, not too sure i always thought the coolant temp sensor had a bit to play with the amount of fuel being added rather than the fan kicking in.

Thats why when theyre nakered the engine over revs. The coolant temp sensor thinks the engines cold, when its actually hot and sends more fuel in, to compensate for the extra fuel the ICV opens up causing the high revving.

Your probs right though.

I think i said fan switch didnt i, cant remember, still thermostat is cheap enough to replace as well tbh

Is there any problems in replacing all the fuses?

As I am tempted to rip them all out and replace with new tonight as a few things are fucked haha

fossie

Unless they are blown theres no reason to replace them imo

mullered my coolant temp sensor the other week and it definitely controls the fan, try changing that..

have you checked the fan relay fuse?
