my VTS engine has starting pissing oil out of rocker cover's, it seems to be coming of the filler cap, and the breather by the throttle (never leaked before) this has leaked over my gearbox somehow got into the bellhousing and wrecked my 3 week old clutch and bearing :wall:

basically any idea on whats happening 'is the oil system somehow overpressuring and forcing it out wherever it can?'

i took the rocker covers off and cleaned em up, and used a lil 'non hardening' gasket sealer, but it aint worked.
am gonna start to take the box off now ready for a new clutch kit, but i dont wanna put a new clutch on it for it to get fucked up again due to some random leaking

Any ideas peeps?

Thanks :y:

Hi, Jonnies step dad here (aw fuck...there's a hotrodder loose in the Saxo forum, lol :y:) - thanks for that, but where's the oil return? Is it the external pipe (25mm dia approx) that emerges from the rc (at the gearbox end) and loops downwards towards the sump?

There's evidence of oil in the end cylinder (only) and the related plug appeared to be wet with oil. Looking into the chamber where the air supply and crank case take off (pcv?) is there's no evidence of it flooding with oil (just some burned on mist) so i can't see how it was coming out of the uncorked air supply vent in any quantity (airbox and plumbing removed). And the cover seal is in place and appears to be working ok in spite of some sealant goo being applied.

I can see how the return being blocked could admit oil down the valve guides but i can't see how there's been the big external leak that's buggered the clutch.

All cylinders checked out ok on a compression test btw.

Scratching head right now.

Cheers
Chris

youve found oil in the cylinder?
i would suspect a crank oil seal if the compression test is good.
empty a can of brake n clutch cleaner via the plate on the bottom of the gearbox
and drive with it slipping for a few miles
sometimes you can get away with it and it stops.
but if not flywheel & clutch off and replace enjoy. lol

looks like its coming from the oil return pipe (where the pipe fits into the block)

new thread time :)

Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions

no the leak is just below the rockers in the engine/head casing, oil return pipe
