Macro settings on digital cameras (as well as all others) is just for close up things...

ie, try and take a normal photo of say, your fingernail really close to the camera. It probably wont focus on it and it will be very blurry.

Flick the camera into macro mode and try again...

Macro is basically the ability to focus really close to the lens... making tiny things appear big smileys/smiley17.gif
