hi sax-p,

yesterday i realised that there is a horrible buzzing/rattling noise coming from just above the rocker cover, next to where the throttle body is.

one of my mates said it could be the idle control valve - or the motor that controls it .

sometimes when i have been driving round a bit and the engine is warm, my car just suddenly dies when i dip the clutch and go to change gear, and wont start first time in the morning - i need to rev it up while turning the key.

yesterday my mate adjusted the throttle cable, so my car would naturally idle at higher revs than normal, but as i was driving, it started kangarooing lol and started reving itself freely between 1k-3k revs . i pulled up at my gf's house and adjusted the cable back to its original position and then it was fine...

but yea, i have a horrible rattle/buzzing noise, is it the ICV or something else?

thanks alot,

Carl.

rattle might be yea tappets, jumpy idle can be idle control valve or throttle position sensor!

naa its not the tappets, had them done a few weeks ago, its coming from a little black box just above the rocket cover and just below the throttle body... btw i have a 1.1.

yh some1 has said it probably is the idle control valve. how much would it roughly cost to get a icv or tps?

thanks alot, Carl.
