Focus! tis a good car from what ive heard
probs a bit more practical than the golf
and the golf is only a basic model not to mention quite heavy
wouldn't worry about alloys they'll only get kerbed
go for focus with more toys on it

We have the golfs at work and I really don't like them. OIne of the guys has a Civic sport instead and that's far nicer. Only a 1.6 but it's got the suspension pack, alloys, full electrics and loads of toys - all for less than the cost of the golf.
If it was my money though I'd compromise and go for the Skoda - VAG build quality and lots for your money!
Can you not just take an allowance and a pool car?

The ford focus is a good car. Dad got one as a hired car was lovely to drive, felt very nippy well will be compared to what ive drove but still, what are the colour choices ?
Mikey
3rd April 2009, 13:06

Luke

3rd April 2009, 17:43
wouldnt complain at either tbh, end of the day its a free car and you get free petrol, whilst still being able to keep the VXR mint :)
but seeing as you asked, focus or skoda, although ive never driven either to be able to compare lol

shooorn94
3rd April 2009, 20:30
Polo for the nimbleness, however it isnt a "I've done well look at me" kinda car, so focus only if its the zetec.
Woody91
3rd April 2009, 21:27
focus but if its a higher powered skoda get that because your essentially getting a golf just without the badge and more for your money:y:
Luke
3rd April 2009, 21:28
You'll pay more than £50 I reckon mate.
Dad pays £70 for his Mondeo, then £50 fuel tax so = £120 all in.

furiomike
3rd April 2009, 22:22
when you say golf, do you mean a new one? i think they're 2.0 engines now, and if probably go for that.
this polo's been abound about 7 years now so is gettin on a bit.
again, i thought the focus is a 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0. nice car though either way.
skoda, well, it would need a better spec than the golf to be prefered.

How old do you have to be to legally drive a company car anyways?
Luke
4th April 2009, 21:05
Any age really....depends on the insurance.
Dad's old work was 17 as I was driving his Transit 2 weeks after I passed my test, but only just gone on his company car insurance at 21 with his new place - that's driving a Ford Mondeo TDCi.

Thanks Luke.
I've been told 21, I've been told 25, I've been told have to have licsense for 2 years, I've been told 18..
Hopefully I can get my hands on a fun toy in summer ;)
