Anyone know how you find out the cars original reg, ie: the one before a personalised plate was put on it?

not much point in needin to no it, when you tek the plate off you get a new number anyway

Aint no way of finding out unless you ring there insurence company and find out but thats hard if you didn't swap the plate over etc.
When you get a private plate your others is redundent when you swap the plate you get a new reg

would show on old MOT certificates mate. And also when i took my personal reg off i got the original reg number back.

Was just trying to see if mine was an S or T reg. I think S as it was still 98 registered?

'98 could either be an R or an S.

yeah the VTS. Well I dont think its an R as it has no keypad immobiliser?

On the R plates, they changed over from the keypad immobiliser to the transponder key, aswell as changing the grill so it could be an R.
When was date of first registration?

When u swap a private plate off it 99% of the time u get the original plate back.
An experian or hpi check will also tell you ALL the previous vrms

It's got the current plate etched into the windows, and the old plate you can see has been scratched out under it.

Yes mate, that is when they did the changeover on them.
Smiley Grill, Blue Dials and no keypad immobiliser.

99% you will get it back mate.
I'll get mine back as all my original reg is etched onto the windows.

Security.
If someone wanted to nick your car, then clone it - basically all the windows would need changing too and all the headlights.

I have an R reg VTS and have a chipped key
Aimee's car also has grey clocks, square-ish grille and the nicer interior = 1997R
Jason's car has blue clocks, smiley grille and the interior from a Metro train = 1998R
