Hi, sorry if it's the wrong section but it's a problem for me so i thought it would do.

Basically i've seen this car and from the pictures it looks like a vtr with vts wheels because it doesn't have a passenger airbag, it has manuel mirrors, vtr interior. In the actual advert it says its a vtr but i rang the guy and he claims its a vts.

I've had a look at the engine and compared it to other vts/vtr and it seems the same as the vtr engine. Also the guy on the phone said vts is the 8v model and cheaper to insure (which I know is wrong).

So, can anyone confirm which one it is?:y:

It's a VTR, with S wheels.

VTS is the 16V model.

Thats what i thought, are you saying its a vtr because of the body pictures or the engine one?

Mieran

That is definitely a VTR.

Its got VTS wheels and 6x9 speakers added to it.

The engine bay gives it away. lolz. Also no rear headrests, passenger airbag, no electric mirrors etc etc. Not sure what badges he's got on the door though...:fcuk:

Cheers for your replies, does it seem a fair price then? It has 3 owners. I don't think they guy really knows what he's on about as he said the vts is 16v. :)

Seems a fair price for a 98BHP.

Get a HPI check before you buy it though :y:

The VTS is 16v.. :S

Seems about the asking price at the moment although there are cheaper ones to be found. Is there any tax with it? MOT is about to expire aswel..

MOT is about to expire aswel..

Good point there actually.

Surly there must be more Saxos for sale in your area.

Thats looks like a vtr.
but then there aint no power steering resovior SO it might have had an engine change so could even be a lower model.
your guess is gonna be as good as ours

Hmm I'll give him another ring then, just gave him a quick ring earlier to find out what it was. It's annoying because I found like ones for £1990 that are newer and lower miles but theyre like 70 miles away and then the ones closer are like £2700 which seems way ott for a saxo.

Thanks everyone :)

my power steering resevoir is low down in the engine bay rather than screwed to the slam panel

I've set my budget at max £1700 for a 2001+, less than 65,000 miles. This seem fair?

You should be able to get a minter for that mate. Become a premium member and you can use the for sale section on here ;)

Could you not stretch to a VTS? Or is insurance the killer?

AnthonyVTR

Havn't got a quote on a vts but I got one for a 106 gti and that was around £1800 tpft.

Mr_P

Who was that with?

Bell were cheapest for me on the S.

AnthonyVTR
5th April 2009, 15:09
Yeah that was with bell, I would like a vts or gti but they generally seem to be more expensive so if i add like the price it would cost to get the car then insure it wouldn't really be too appealing...

I'll keep looking, I thought I would've been able to snap one up soonish but then some of them are still like £2700 on autotrader!

And thanks :)

Hmm, he's put on the advert "vts no vtr" so I presume he's trying to correct the title, but then it is a vtr... it's all confusing. Quite gutted as when I get a saxo I want to put vts alloys on it so it seemed good.

I still have yet to ring him again though so I'll see what he has to say about it being a vtr :)
