i open the locks and the central locking doesnt kick in, it just opens the
one door and makes a funny noise that seems to be coming from the
passenger glove box.

The headlights go on but look dimmer than usual

The key turns fully in the ignition but nothing happens no noise at all.

Thinking its probably a battery related problem but not looked into it yet.

Any suggestions?

btw its a focus not a saxo

I'd say the battery is knackered.

yeah, think i may have left the dvd player on over night or something, still
havent been out to check, keep forgetting to then it gets dark.

Use the car fairly regually probs about once in the week then fri and sat
night to drive about 20mile return trips. Can't see why the battery would
die, its y reg 48,000 miles

Its happens in alot of cars, no matter what age they are, & especially with this cold weather its prone to happen, either jump start it & take it for a good spin, charge the battery up or just blow a few quid on a new one.

Remember to not leave anything on next time, if you think you may have left the dvd player on then more then likely you probably did do.

I hadnt been using the dvd player but someone was sat in the back so
may have kicked it and turned it on smileys/smiley13.gif

Yeah i had planned to get my mate to come round either later or
tomorrow with some jump leads and try that.

my battery died last friday night when i went to rescue a mate with a knackered wheel. started the car, drove 2 mins down the road in the freezing cold & left the headlights on for 1/2 hour while we looked at/changed the wheel.

jump started mine & its been fine ever since mate. i wouldn't replace the battery straight away, unless you've had the problem more than once

get someone to jump you and take it for a 45min drive or so to get the alternator to do its job

batterys are only designed to last 3 years, some less than that if they are cheap, if you get more you have done well.
