I have just bought a saxo vtr 1998 car and it will not start unless it is bumped off my girfriends car but when i take the jump leads off the car it will run briefly then the battery light comes on, then the rev counter drops to o, then the car dies.

I've already had the alternator checked, have had two new batteries and it keeps happening. Could there be something draining the battery? Its standard car, no amps/subs. Has anyone had same problem or any idea how to fix it, Please!

is the battery light working on the dash? if not the battery wont charge(acts like a fuse)
if it is you will need to cheek the wireing from the alternator to the battery

in that case make sure all cables are ok/ terminals are clean and tight,
its not something draining the battery, if it was then it would still run ok when the car was running as the alternator will provide the power, yours is definantly the cables or the alternator
