Right...looking at discs and pads all round for MOT in july (starting early i know). Right im thinking of uprating while im there.
kamracing seems to be cheap option,
fast road:

or track day:

or: upgrade to a 306 gti/206 gti180 setup??? £???
What are the pro's and con's of each of them, car is heading towards a fast road spec hopefully to get some track days in and maybe a trip back to the ring:y:
would i really notice that much difference in going for the bigger discs n calipers of 306/206, etc...whats needed and how much compaired to the setups above?
cheers rob:y:

vtr/s brakes are crap i would reccomend getting gti6 setup or a 206 setup.
just with a standard gti6 i had much much better braking abilities. then couple that with some good pads and disks you will be laughing

you will probly be able to pick up a big brake conversion for about the same money fitted mate. Ive just got some from a 406 v6 coupe. Havent got them fitted yet though.

whats needed then, calipers, discs, pads...anything need to be changed?? run on the same servo and will my brake hoses still reach? i guess cant argue that size matters then haha!

it would be best to get new hoses as although your ones will reach they may rub on full lock, but they are cheap enough. You need, calipers, carriers, disks and pads thats about it. Ive paid all in all £120 fitted so thats not too bad other than that everything will fit on fine with the gti6, 206gti and 406 brakes.

you wont stop quicker with a gti-6 brake setup.
The question you need to ask is what are you actually trying to upgrade?
If you want simply better pedal feel then ours is a good start. The performance pads are far better than standard pads. The carbon lorraine are solid and will not compress and give a much nicer feel when braking.
If heat is an issue then upgrading the pads will usually do the trick, but if your car is lardy then the bigger disks may be needed to dissipate more heat. There are plenty of saxo's running in motorsport using standard calipers and disks to good effect.
As for the difference in the two setups we offer.
The mintex is a cheaper option, works well from cold and light trackday use. For a road car with more regular brake replacement cost is a big factor. Its not too aggressive a compound so disk wear will be minimal.
The carbone lorraine is more expensive but works better at high temperatures. It offers the same friction co-efficient as the mintex but being sintered metal it does not compress when hot, or when pressed against, and it works at extremely high temperatures (about 900degrees!) Its not too aggressive a compound so disk wear will again be minimal too.
Bigger is not always better for brakes and i've gone on about why and the physics in detail in other posts. Personally I dont see the size of the brakes being the issue and I hate the extra costs involved in gti-6 (replacement disks etc) and 206 options and the extra unsprung weight. Lightweight alloy calipers and two piece disks get far more interesting when fitted to a car that can utilise them effectively, but the £1500 cost rules them out of the equation really.

As sean said you should fit longer lines.
You wont find the correct ones as an off the shelf item.
But i am in a position to get you very high quality ones made up to suit for not much more than a pair of rubber hoses cost
pm me for details
