View Full Version : Have I been ripped off with this spax kit?

Bought a full spax psx kit off ebay, usually go for just under £300 brand new and I got it for £170, still in box.
Just arrived, opened it up and it says "G-max 30 CI 08 front" on the front springs. Any genuine reason why this would happen or should I get into contact with the seller?
The front shocks and rear dampers have got spax psx on them so no problems there.

It's false advertising (if you definitely bought what you thought was a Spax kit). Get in contact with the seller. Failing that, speak to eBay. If you paid for them via PayPal, you have additional cover.

G-max and spax are seperate companys so yes its false advertising to say the whole kit is spax, get on to the seller and ask him to explain

What a pain in the arse, contacted the seller now, see what bullshit excuse gets made.

don't accept any excuses. there is nothing to justify that, other than pure ignorance

What should I be telling them? Demand they send me spax 40mm springs and I'll send them the gmax back in return?

yeah exactly that mate...
End of the day you want the full spax set up...
I don't know the ins and outs of the suspension set-up, but maybe the gmax springs will not be set up as well compared to the spax when using the full kit...
Is there no contact number? If so give them a bell, any reputable company will be more than happy for you to return the goods and them release the spax springs..
More than likely a genuine mistake...

It wasn't bought from a company, just an individual.

I sent the seller a message asking if it's the spax 40mm or 60mm kit. I was told 40mm. The GMAX springs are 30mm.

yeah mate, definately get onto ebay and the seller about that, no excuse to do that to you, gmax and spax are two completely different companys, and gmax are crap imo, its false advertising

Clearly advertised as Spax mate.
What's he said if anything?

6th April 2009, 13:18
Nothing yet, I can see this turning into a load of hassle :n:
I haven't got enough money to buy spax 40mm springs myself and I went for the spax kit because everyone rated it better than gmax and apex.

I may be wrong but don't you have to try and resolve it with the seller before any dispute you log will be looked at? I know it's a pain in the ass but i think you have to give it something like 7 days or so trying to contact the seller and sort it between yourselves. Only then if you are unhappy or had no response can you log a dispute. It may have changed since I last logged a dispute, just a thought tho...

Seller can take up to 20 days to refund iirc

there may be a perfectly inocent reason for the gmax springs.
how do you know he doesent have 2sets of springs and has put the wrong ones in the box?
i think to open up a dispute and request a refund of 67.99 within a couple of days is jumping the gun abit.
give him time to reply... you say you think he will give you hassle, wel i wouldnt be suprised if he did tbh.

When you file a dispute you have 20 days to work it out before it escalates into a paypal claim, where someone from paypal will make a decision.
If they give me the spax 40mm springs then I'll happily put the dispute as resolved but I am NOT putting up with having gmax 30mm.

Been offered £40 if I send them the springs back, reckon I should take that?
badasssaxo

raising the dispute gives the seller the opportunity to put things right. They have a time limit to do it

I've told them £40 isn't enough, by the time I've paid for postage I'd be left with £30 to get the new springs, which isn't going to happen really.

nice one mate! at least hes fully admitted hes got it wrong and has agree'd to refund part of the cash.
if hes refunding some of the cash in the morning he requested the springs back?

Yeah they've asked for the springs to be sent back but I'll be going to the Post Office first to see how much it costs to send, then I'll be emailing them to request the postage money. I wouldn't mind paying if it was something small but 2 springs are quite big and heavy. Cost me £6 to send off some saxo clocks last week so would be looking at £10+ I'd guess.
If they don't pay up the postage then expect to see some gmax springs in the for sale section!
