the other week i went to leave work, i put it in reverse and it was like the rear wheel/s were locked, i put the handbrake on and off agian this solved the problem, i have been keeping an eye on this and over the last 2 days i have been noticeing a slight grinding sound from the rear when i brake, it cant be the from as they have recently been changed, so is the problem something woth the handbrake or the rear drums?! many thanks! - has anyone else had this prob?

Yer needs to be in the problems area BUT it looks like your Handbrake might of seized up. Has it been sitting for a while?

my dad back breaks used to lock on when we had his old car - but they used to kick out black smoke when they did start to stick

the adjusting ratchet might be knackered or has seized. pretty easy to do yourself, buy a haynes manual smileys/smiley4.gif

That is a bit strange then becasue normally they lock if it has been sitting but that is more on rear discs. It might be your drum is getting worn and knackered. Pop it into your garage. DOnt really want to be letting it go with brakes. smileys/smiley2.gif

better still, spend £150-£200 on a vt* rear beam then £100 or so to get it fitted smileys/smiley2.gif

my brakes did that on my old car mate. i found that the lining had come away from the shoe 'bodies'. i would get it to a garage asap just to be sure. it'll have to go there anyway so you better be safe than sorry.
