View Full Version : Absolutely F*****G Seething!

I just sent this to my bank, I am absolutely seething about it. A lil harsh maybe, but im sick and tired of been charged bank charges.
"You know what, you lot are an absolute disgrace, heres me completely on my arse, on the dole, because i can't find work anywhere, and your charging me left right and centre for bank charges. Because i went 0.79p overdrawn, i get a £35 fine, i have totally had it with your shite bank. I have been with you all my life, and i go overdrawn 0.79p and you charge me £35 for that, and then another £70 for going £6.00 and £7.00 overdrawn, which was money at the post office, sending parcels, selling my things to try and make a bit of money, and better yet, a day later, the money was paid back in my bank, due to a paypal transfer selling my stuff on ebay to try and make a bit of cash, and what can i get With that money? Absolutely jackshit, because you've taken it all from me with your ridiculous scheme. If there wasn't enough money in my bank with my £750 overdraft then your complete waste of space what you call a bank, should have declined my card, then i would have taken the parcels home, waited for the money to clear in my bank, which i thought had as i transferred it 5 working days before and it supposedly takes 3-5 working days to clear, and then sent them. But no, your too busy rubbing your little mits together stealing everyones cash by charging them every single time. Its a disgrace. Ok charge me for going overdrawn if it was £50, £100 whatever, but £35 for going over £0.79p for christ sake which was a genuine mistake? And also a day later, the balance was set straight again, as i transferred money, to my account, which takes 3-5 working days, but it went in in 6. I even tried extending my overdraft so something like this wouldn't happen, but again....nope due to your
circumstances. Ye my circumstances are that i can't find work anywhere and i'm now completely in the shit. I am absolutely seething about this, i am not happy what so ever. Its a fucking joke and so is your fucking bank. Who gives you extra? Your fucking customers give you extra, extra cash you dont deserve. Fucking Arseholes, its a wonder your still going.

A simple calm email or phone call to them would have seen the charges removed. You are allowed up to 3 charges to be dropped.

TheVtrKid
7th April 2009, 11:27
i've tried the simple and calm thing, it didn't work. Thats why im so p!ssed of about this. And i applied for the bank charges refund thing online, they sent documents through etc, and i sent them back, after signing etc, but i haven't heard anything yet. Can take upto 14 weeks aparantly. This was about 5 weeks ago

Mate, if i am being honest, they wont even entertain that letter because of your use of language etc! They will use that against you, which is wrong really because i see where your coming from! The scheme is all wrong and very costly!

Basically i agree with what your saying, but you need to calm down, because your fighting a losing battle!

Sorry dude!

Im sick of it

lmfao! you legend. about time someone said something like this in my opinion! banks are all out for what they can get, reminds me of the government to be honest. they dont have to worry about resession with what they earn, they dont care about us poor, hard working people.

this country is a joke and so are the banking and goverment systems. the government only has itself to blame along with the banks for letting these prize arseholes to get away with rediculous claims and pensions etc.

you can be proffesional and firm at the same time, demanding things (which you have a right to) in a professional manner gets you places

typing a load of crap because your pissed off gets your letter a short trip to the bin

TheVtrKid
7th April 2009, 11:35
totally agreed matt. This country is well and truly on its arse. People can come into this country, get things GIVEN, a house, car etc etc etc, us hard workers, get absolutely nothing for what we give. Nothing to do with my letter like, but its the same kinda thing

Halifax................. pure wankers.

I had charges for over £100 pounds with them, wankers sent me a letter asking me to pay the first £35 charge, i paid it then shut my account down. Could'nt get the other £75 from me.

I can see where your coming from, we are in this recession due to them and they are making it worse by taking our taxes and on the premise that they will begin lending again to get us out of this mess, and guess what they are still at it. Not lending to business and making SME's go under. Wankers tbh, as long as the bankers have still got all the money they made before the credit crunch they are happy!!!

7th April 2009, 11:45
Sounds like Halifax... lol

They cahrged me £30 on the last day of a month fr going 36p overdrawn. Then charged me £30 for using an unauthorised overdraft... then on the first day of the month (the next day) they charged me another £30 for using an unauthorised overdraft for 2 different months.

Quick phonecall to them worked and got 2 of the charges reversed.

TBH - I dont think your rant letter above will be listened to at all... if you have an issue, best to take it up over the phone.

Bank charges do suck though!!!

maybe you should take a lesson from someone, like me, on how to write a professional, yet firm letter.

have a look through my michael jackson ticket thread, read what i sent them, read your own letter and then cry at how pathetic you are.

Jesus christ you are writing to a bank! A FUCKING BANK! idiot.

To be honest, you will not get anywhere at all with that piece of shite that you sent them.

"oh but i tried the calm talk"

i take it you're one of these guys that wont talk about problems but instead go and fill someone in about it?

Tell Halifax to GET FUCKED!! :clapping:

Just a suggestion, but if your on the dole, how about you DONT have an overdraft! At least that way, you cant spend money you don't have?

TheVtrKid
7th April 2009, 11:52
Aye, but i'm £735 into my current overdraft with halifax, so wouldn't i have to pay that back first? Which at the moment mate, theres is no chance of doing, until i can find some work.

Using an overdraft isnt a bad thing, i use mine all the time until i get my loan through. It just aids cash flow. The banks should just not allow you to use your card, not charge people for going over their overdraft limit.

but this must have gone on for a long time then, you dont get charged until the next month on overdrafts....iirc.

so you would have been buying things/bought things previously and then it hasnt come out of your account straight away.

if i am correct in thinking that you dont get charged until the next month (thats what happens if i go over due to unforseen circumstances) you should have spotted this sooner and gone straight down the bank about it.

Ive had loads of trouble with barclays this year, not with charges just them been wank so i moved to the co-op bank, really pleased with them so far, transfered my business accounts as well.

TheVtrKid
7th April 2009, 12:09
see i thought about that, but i transferred £35 from my paypal account 5 days before, and it says it takes 3-5 days to clear, so the money should have been in my account anyway. And its ok Lewy, no problem. Ye im on internet banking. And the letter wasn't supposed to be proffesional, it was supposed to show them what scandolous and useless *bleep* they are, and show how frickin raged i was. Just to let you know ;)

i know how annoying it is to be charged like that mate

as said though, as soon as you started swearing you threw away any chance of getting anything positive done towards this

i got charged £28.00 for going about 50p over my o/d limit when a charity payment left my account

i called and explained, firmly mentioned that it is not on, i could pay 6 months charity payments for what theyve charged me and it was removed

agreed, unless your forceful & straight to the point, letting them know that you know what your rights are, the will think "this guys some noob we can pull the wool over his eyes"

you have to NOT beat around the bush. your the one with the upper hand, you just have to show them that you know more than they think and have to be intelligent and persuasive in the way you speak

I've been with the Halifax for about 7 -8 years.

They tried to charge me once for paying an item with insufficient credit, then charge me again for going into an unauthorised overdraft.

One call to them insisting they reverse the charges as they shouldn't have charged me twice (quoting law) and they reversed both charges there and then.

Never been over my overdraft since.

Usually if you go into a bank, and explain you didn't have money in you're bank because of so and so reason (getting paid late) or whatever. In my experiance they will actually give you the money back, well not after that letter and I do see where you're coming from. You should close you're account and move banks or atleast threaten too.

Freakin_Sweeet
7th April 2009, 14:42
I understand you were angry but if anything this has damaged your cause.

If you had gone in and said you were not happy and wanted to close your account to go elsewhere they would have been much more negotiable.

I agree with what your saying though, banks are a joke, but spose we couldnt really get on with out them lol

Most likely an automated reply. I bet they had a right old chuckle after that note you wrote them. But usually if you keep your cool and explain the situation to them, 4/5 times you can usually get the charges dropped if they are disproportionate. I work in a bank and we always get people coming in about charges. So we usually put them on the phone to our call centres lol, and they (usually) get refunded. If they go over by quite a bit with no decent explanation, then tough luck..

Just play it right and keep your cool, you'll (hopefully) get a refund.

I went overdrawn with the halifax last bank holiday, payment went out early instead of late and i got charged, i just rang them up...

did the verification test and then said well i'd like you to put this charge on hold until the high court/eu high court case has been settled, i think its vastly unfair that the banking system operates like this and is extortion.
No foul language,
Abit of lingo showing your not a pleb and wham bam thank you mam...

Just ended the phone call "I would like it formally placed on record, NO automated charges are to be withdrawn from my account without verbal contact with me first; or i shall add my name to the list of people due to get compensation with 15% interest attached when you lose the high court claim"

On a side note, as i have mentioned before...

There is ALWAYS jobs, you can't afford to be picky at the minute matey. Last time i brought this subject up people said "Well im not going to work for that..." if your on the dole your simply a tax thief and i would sooner see myself personally earning the same that i would get benefits from a shitty job than scrounging!!!
Rant over...

well i phoned them up about an hour ago, they said they could take 2 charges off which were supposed to come out on the 17th april but one had to stay which comes out the 16th and also an overdraft fee of £28 comes out at the end of the month which had to stay. So i've got rid of £70's worth of charges which is good, but i was kinda hoping to get rid of them all. You think if i phoned up on the 16th when it comes out? and say i spoke to somebody and they said they would get rid of the charge for me but its come out of my account today, you think they'll refund me then? lol.
