My brother just got a couple of bottles delivered from some online site.

85% 50 vol.

Smells like Liquorice soaking in petrol.

On tablets so i cant drink it. Kind of pleased about that as i think it would melt my insides.

Anyone tried it?

its absolutely disgusting though, did 2 shots in a row at a house party once with nothing to wash it down, every was like 'fair play' then i started to dribble uncontrollably and 10 mins later i was wrecked!

Bah, absinthe isnt absinthe these days though, if it tastes like aniseed, its not absinthe, if its above 75% abv its not absinthe.

If your looking to for a high percentage shot to have on a night out by all means buy a bottle of 85% 'absinthe'.

If you wanna taste of the real deal though you'll have to hunt a little harder to find a decent bottle, and real absinthe doesn't make you hallucinate either, it must be one of the most misconceived drinks ever tbh. 90% of what the average person knows about it is wrong.

actual way to drink it if its actual absinthe is to get a shot an actual spoon meant for absinthe, add some sugar, soak the spoon with sugar in absinthe then alight it, then immerse in the rest of shot, wait for it to burn then drink. i had quite a lot in prague in 99and then got a few people wrecked on it at the french car show in 2002

Thats the bohemian method, the traditional/purist way is with ice cold water slowly dripped into the absinthe until the louche is complete. If sugar is preferred then its placed on an appropriate spoon with ice water dripped over or at the spout of the glass dripper with ice on top.

I took a bottle to a house party once and about 5 of us did a whole bottle 3 were sick everywhere and it was lime green and me and a friend just got paralyised on the sofa couldnt move couldnt talk could see everything but people were being chased by orange dots lol

Last year in malia asleep in my bed, Friend comes in poors a shot into my mouth (still asleep) Couple of mins later wake up and swallow thinking WTF was that, Anyway later on that day 6 hours later or so, all the skin inside my mouth starts to peel of! i personally am a bit of an absinthe fiend but i'll only drink it the traditional way.
The 85% one is the only one to have though all the rest are pretty tame. In the past i've tripped out, gone blind, gone deaf and had the last two happen at the same time.

with me i only drink the Hapsburg so it's not a cheap version at all and believe me it wasn't just in my head.

I have recently bought some vodka though that is 88%abv or 176%proof and that is honestly alot harder hitting than absinthe just with out the tripping only down side is that you're basically drinking ethanol.

Another good one for the less squemish people to try is Mezcal Agave Tequila only catch is you've gotta eat the worm at the bottom of the bottle but if you do manage to eat the worm be prepared for some seriously mind altering experiences.

There is no hallucinating or tripping with absinthe, its all a placebo.

Hapsburg is more expensive than most of the crap people buy abroad and bring home, 'devil diable', dare i say it, but its a very poor absinthe, you'd be better just getting La Fée that Tesco stock.

You really wanna try Doubs Mystique or some of the Jade or Clandestine absinthes if you genuinely like the drink.
