Sorry for not searching, just need a relatively quick answer, explained in terms for a simpleton like me.
Noticed some oil around ther n/s cv boot last weekend.
Guys at garage said its split and needed replacing,
what parts do I need? I was quoted 2 prices from my parts man saying inner and outer boot?
But then the guy who will lend me a hand said look a full replacement driveshaft?

I am a bit wary of 2nd hand driveshafts, most would be on higher miles than my current (50k)

yeah thats the one i need, someone told me you can get the kit where the rubber gaitor slides over.
All other ones i have seen you need to take the shaft apart.
Balls to that.

CV stands for constant velocity or constant velocity joint, it is the joints between the gear box and wheels that lets the drive shaft rotate whilst being flexible to allow for suspension travel and wheels to turn. the cv boot is the rubber gaiter that protects the cv joint from dirt, water etc. and also keeps the grease inside the joint.

I bought the CV boot from the motorfactors today, £6.10 or something, cant complain as it is a 20second walk from my house. Just waiting for a reply from a guy to fit it for me.

ill help you but not because i want to dont get a cv boot that is slit in half and you glue it together there rubbish a proper cv boot kit will cost you all of 15 quid DONT force the inner side over as in a couple of months it will just split again best bet is to remove the driveshaft and take the bearing end off by loseing the circlip and it pops off the put ur cv boot on then pop the bearing back on outer is piece of piss :y:

I bought the boot alone... garage said it was all I needed in the end?

well you have got to loosen the drive shaft off to get to the cv boots so i would do the inner and outer on the side that needs replacing at the same time as there only cheap to replace might save you from takeing it apart in the future to do the outher one if ur only going to do one:y:
