Basically stole my brothers xbox as he is away with the army alot, i am at uni and need something to do instead of studying !
Anyway, it worked fine on the telly it was connected to before, but the sound is not working when its connected to my telly, i just have a little sony 26" widescreen (nothing fancy)... i have connected the three coloured wires to the correct ports on the tv but no sounds, also tried a scart adaptor, but still nothing, even tried headphones and still nothing!!! ??? There are three other wires( blue, green, red) are they of relevance? Can someone please help me?? I hate playing fifa in silence lol...

I have no idea what "component setup" is??? And yeah i am using the white red and yellow wires, just wondered if the other had anything to do with having no sound...

Edt: Is it something to do with the initial setup of the xbox...???

Click Here (http://www.xbox.com/en-HK/support/systemsetup/xbox360/accessories/hdavcable.htm) it will show you ;)

if you have a HD tv then you can use the component setup....Green,Blue,Band Red,Red and White

there is a switch on the tv adaptor at the xbox end. sound like he has it on the HDTV setting

its basically a scart... 100% compatable

you using a scart or the 3 plugs

make sure the tv adaptor is pushed right in.. if i remember its an akward bugger.

red is picture... white and yellow are sound iirc , unless they are the wrong way round or they are pushed in enough .... or the cable is shagged

It may be the actual cable as it looks a bit tatty, and the casing for the end that connects to the xbox is broken, but then again it was working the other day, and the picture is fine! suppose i will have to buy a different cable!

best bet shouldn't cost too much

£20 at Game (http://www.game.co.uk/Xbox360/Hardware/Accessory/~r327030/Xbox-360-Component-HD-AV-Cable/)

£20 at Gamestation (http://gamestation.co.uk/Xbox360/Hardware/Accessory/~r403670/Xbox-360-Component-HD-AV-Cable/)

or

Maybe £6 in Fleebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OFFICIAL-XBOX360-Component-HD-AV-Cable-Brand-New-SEALED_W0QQitemZ180345000983QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_ VideoGames_VideoGameAccessories_VideoGameAccessori es_JN?hash=item180345000983&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1687%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318)

Strange one that mate, even if you had it flicked onto HD or SD it would only load up the xbox on SD as you're tv aint HD.

Could you get me a picture of the wires condition, see if they're reeeeeeally bad?

I have some spare ones in the loft I think.

Other thing is to
1. Move to the System section of the Xbox Dashboard.
2. Select Console Settings, and then select Audio to change your audio output settings.
3. Select Dolby Pro Logic II (or just fuck about tryin em all :))

Yeah i tried all that already too... its a pain, as i stated the wire is a bit gubbed! The av cable (at the xbox end) has none of the grey casing (my bro lost it), but it has been working fine up until now, which is why i thought the telly may have something to do with it, but i am thinking maybe its finally just jiggered and that its a new av cable i need! But then again the picture is working fine... its just dong my head in now!

Not got a camera mate... ! :n: ... my scart adapter is switched to input and it is in the back of the tv.... i have also tried it in the front of the tv without the adapter ( just by plugging the wires in the coloured plugs) and still nothing!

i for one can't think of any other reason why it isn't working unless its a faulty cable
