40 mm youll be fine on standard shocks, any lower than that and its best to replace shox
apex or spax are the best for budget mate

i personaly wouldnt ever lower the back of a saxo again without shortend shocks as under heavy breaking the back end of the car will lift up untill the shocks bottom out and on stand shocks when the car is lowerd you end up with next to no weight on the back end but with shorter shocks they stop it from goin too far. having the suspention go basically slack under heavy breaking isnt good and can cause a crash. ive had this happen in my old vtr and it aint recomended

I think thats probably more to do with your brake bias not been adjusted after lowering rather than having standard dampers.
