Does anyone know anything about it?
I.E. Signs of, what to do, where I stand etc?
Need help as manager at UPS is being the bitch from hell.
Surely forcing me to work in a van where the heating is totally ineffective, making the temperature in the van around freezing the whole day is illegal? Would you do 200 miles a day in a van that is draughty, cold, slow and noisy inside?
Any help much appreciated.

hmmm at our place things are supposta get reported then fixed altho i dont think it always goes that way! surely if you kick up a fuss about it enough something will get done as techinically all vans should be in perfect condition for when you take them out

It is not a fault with the van - it is a fault with the van design. My new Merc van was replaced with an old thing, and they were only designed for town deliveries, not fucking missions to the moon like I do. The doors close, but the door seals don't work effectively on motorways, and I do 55 miles on motorways before the first stop.
The heater is on full blast all day, but is totally effective as there is a stingin cold draught through the van the whole day even with the doors tightly shut.

thats a bad situation mate, but you have not got the right tools for the job as they say, what van is it by the way?

your company can't 'make' you do anything mate. there has to be acceptable working conditions, which you clearly don't have. don't threaten to leave work, but tell them you're perfectly willing to work, just not in those conditions. you should also speak to an area manager or a personnel manager.

i dont know if this will make sense but it does to me lol, thats like me going into work and my computer not working to its full ability ie. email not working when i need it to email customers, so what im trying to say its kinder like a fault with a tool that you need to work lol
ye agree with nax take it higher!

get a thermometer and make a note of how cold the van is. then show it to her! might make her think about it a bit more

It is a custome make one. My old one is this (Made by Merc with a custom bit on the back):

The one that it has been replaced with (as apparently someone who drives 100 mile less than me a day needs it more than me!!!) is a custom made VW that looks like a box on wheels. Metal sliding doors, totally metal interior in the cab, M -reg over 300000 miles on the clock - basically, its for town use only, not driving 200-250 miles a day in!
Anyone who has drivne a sprinter will know that they are very comfortable, and nice vans to work out of, but the one that the above has been replaced with is totally beyond a joke!

It is a fact that it is illegal to make you work in conditions below a certain temperature. I'm sorry, I do not know what that temperature is but it is certainly above freezing point! If you spend a large part of your working day in one place, then you can demand that the temperature is controllable, whether you want the temp to be warmer or cooler. Going right now to try to find out what the exact regulations are, and will let you know if I can find anything.......

isn't the legal limit something like 16° ???
there was something on our local news last week about a shop being below that temp. & being fined thousands by the council/government. they've had to install new heaters & sort the problem as well
what reason did they give you for the other person needing your old van ?

"I need the spce in this one"
The fact that he has far less packages than me every day makes me just slightly dis-believe this bullshit.
