I have an ecu taken off a single plug mk1 vts, which had a keypad immobiliser. The ecu was unlocked by removing the keypad whilst running so that it could be sold on as I will be using standalone.

If someone with one of the later single plug cars which has the chipped key type immobiliser wanted to fit my ecu to their car, would it be a straight swap, or whould they need their ecu unlocking first before it was removed, and the immobiliser box removing? Or would their car just 'forget' the standard imobiliser?

Any help is appreciated.

if the car where you're going to connect your ECU has keypad pluged...the ECU will lock!
I got this problem...my car had the keypad unpluged...i don't know my ECU imobilizer code, and we test my ECU in other 106 GTI wich had the keypad pluged in....and now my car don't start... :(

anyone can help me...???
I don't know the code...and I don't know no one to unlock my ECU here where i live!
Peugeot will reset my ECU to the default code? Or...they will try to sell me another one? :) this happend yesterday...:(

AndyK - Id just remove the immobiliser box from the car the ecu is going into before fitting it. Safest bet. Unless the car gets stolen of course :P

cenas - Try bluehawk electronics, they can unlock the ecu :)
