just got back from taking the saxo for its mot, and its failed booo, its failed on a lower nearside ball joint, and some welding needs doing behind the back wheel, and emmisions, weldings getting done thursday, balljoint friday, but not sure on immisions, also ive never done a ball joint on a saxo vtr or any saxo, so need help on this please cheers.

failed emissions beacause of decat maybe? if not then your lambda sensors gone :n:

Nope, you can buy the ball joints seperate from the arm. If you're planning on doing it yourself though it would be alot less hassle for you to buy the whole arm with bushes and the ball joint already pressed it, because ideally you need a press to remove the old ball joint or be skill-full with a hammer :y:

yeah could be lambda sesor? deffo not de cat, cos the misses car aint got one on it, just thinking were i could get the ball joint pressed out, then back in, any ideas? chesterfield area? or would i be better off buying the whole arm? and doing it that way? is there anything else i could do to get the immisions down? red ex, injector cleaner or anything like that be alright? ive never failed on imissions before its a load of bollox relly isnt it.

im just phoning around a few freinds asking to see if anyone has a press at work, no joy yet though. anyone no anywhere in chesterfield i could go?

I've never needed to, there's a press at work.... lol. If you got it MOT'd at a garage they will be able to do it for you.

ahh yes i had one gone on my car and i used a press, ull damage it for surewith a hammer, i had a quote for a whole arm it was in the region of 60quid from local factors WITH trade discount, and i got a joint for a tenner or less, but if u use a press make sure u dont push down on the centre of the balljoint use a socket on the outer edge if u get me otherwise ull off centre it and damage the joint

No you dont! You can press them out.

cheers everyone, ive not botherd with a press, ive been and brought a arm instead, £58 with trade discount, it was a bit of a ball ache changing it, has i had no pit, but i got there in the end, then i cracked out the grinder, and started on the rust repairs, ready for the morning, then its back to the test centre again to see if its ok, ile let you no how i got on. cheers.

havent had time to take it in for the re test today, it was to late, but all the weldings been done, and ive had all the chassis undersealed, so shouldnt rust for a while now, its going to the test cetre in the morning, should pass now, fingers crossed, its cost me enough.
