I was drvin' along behind some fucker today, packed wit' bags of harlin' (The white stones people put on their house walls.
Guy went over a bump at a decent speed and littered my car with fuckin' stones.
The bonnet's now filled with stupid little dents and dinks. Not to mention the grille which I was about to send away....
I'm fuckin' sick of these stupid cunt drivers who don't think about what they're loadin' and how much they're loadin'. :wall:
Yeah.. So bad times. :n: Looks like I'm gonna have to go to the scrappies if I want a stock one. Bin the old one. :n:

Too close tbh
Its the sugar beet lorries you need to watch. They never sheet the loads (which they should by law) and they always seem to be overloaded.
Is harlin the brand name or just some weird Scottish name for something?

How close were you to him. Not being funny, but if you can see the person infront of you is carrying shit leave heeelllllll of a gap!
We have 40+ ton dump trucks in work carrying coke ;) and if you're behind one of them it's common sense to stay well away from it's arse.
Bloke in work was actually driving a pick up behind one a couple of weeks ago (leaving a normal gap) and had his windscreen smashed from a rock that flicked up.

That sucks. I was driving up Gillingham a couple of month ago when an open top waste truck that we were a bit behind came off the round about and one of the scrap boilers it was carrying fell out the top and landed a few metres in front of the Clio in front of us. He slammed on his brakes, missing it and luckily because I don't drive up peoples arse's I could stop in time. Was almost a shitty accident, the driver of the truck didn't even realise what happened.

Why didnt you overtake?

It was a tonne bag with the two handles on the top. Y'know.. The standard white bags.

Perhaps he thought "I know.... seeing as I'm carrying x amount of stone in the back I won't go too fast, that way it won't flick out all over the road, but also at 45mph people will still be able to overtake safely :P

Exactly. We can only do 50 (ish) when our trailer is loaded.
Daihatsu + 3 tonne Ifor Williams trailer + Kubota 1.5 mini digger = longer breaking distance
Locks up piss easy even when its empty lol

But don't you think that forty-five's a bit of an over-cautious move? :P

Lol :homme:
If the road was straight, flat. etc. then yes. But if it was, you'd have been able to overtake :p

No. Like I said, adding that weight will slow down the acceleration shit loads and decrease the breaking distance.
What was the pickup as they have different legal weight limitations.
Transit? L2000? etc etc
JayEmDizzle
14th April 2009, 21:33
Lol. It was a straight country road with maybe two bumps in the whole x miles. :y:
Haha. Somethin' tells me I'm gettin' no sympathy here. :P
C'mon.. I'm a learner driver.. I'm supposed to be allowed to make drivers without being rained down upon by stupid little stones. :n:
Haha. Oh well.. Live 'n' learn I suppose. Still hate that driver....

your own fault for being too close,
you probly would have blamed him too if he slammed on the anchors and you went into the back of him..
and its a speed limit, not a speed target
