Just read a site abot LPG pertol and LPG conversions.
Looks like somthing i might look into further, obviouslt not right now, cause it costs about £1600 to get it converted.
Saxo's can ve converted EVEN turbo'd ones.
It does 20% LESS miles to the gallon BUT cost 50% LESS than petorl........
So basicly your 30% better off...... PLUS, the government is offering GRANTS to help people who do long millage.
Looks well good.... THE FUTURE!!!!
Is anyone else interested???? long shot but maybe the govenment might be able to offer bulk intrest discounts lol....
+++++ you dont have to have a massive TANK in your boot. you can have a dounut shaped tank to fit in the spare wheel gap....... Not sure about Saxos's though, but im sure if they do a dounut one, they much to a boot moulded one.....
Yes another POLL people lol sorry.

such small trips?
i use the car 3 evenings a week because i have too - if i decide to go out at weekends ill go bristol, exeter, bournemouth etc so its not just gettin tiny journeys it gets good runs aswell
Clouds_mate
22nd November 2005, 19:17
well i was going from the figures you supplied.
£30 a month = a full tank
400miles = 8 weeks
400 / 8 = 50 / 7 = 7miles a day
I was going from that. You dont have to explain yourself to me, just find £30 for 8 weeks with induction kit etc so fricking amazing

Have you ever driven a LPG converted car, STUPIDLY slow and just dont respond at all. I am going to hate it when we run out of petrol and we have to drive on slow lpg etc. They better invent something soon that will be as good if not better than petrol, lol.

Legend smileys/smiley2.gif
And dan, If you spend 3k a year on fuel, your not paying for it twice are
you, becuase you have to pay out the £1600, and then still 80% of what
you would pay normally, so if you spend £3,000 on petrol, then you
would only spend £2400 on LPG, plus the £1600 to have it done, so wait,
you just cost yourself £1,000! waaaaaaaaheeeeeyyyy!!!!!
And how long does it take to rape your engine to pieces?
But maybe I'm wrong and LPG is the furutre, whatever the fututre is.

I do about 500-550 miles aweek....
40 miles aday to get from work and back ..... about 15-20 miles in a evening either seeing my mates of other stuff.... and i got to burgess hill 3 times aweek to see my bird. thats a 90 mile round trip each time...
So 200 miles for work, 75 miles for lesuire, 270 miles seeing my women....
So in total on avg around 545 miles..... quite alot.... so about £60 aweek on fuel.... get about 300 to the tank....
I've heard that LPG dosent lose power/performance, and is smoother than petorl..... if you read the info in the link you would see that.....
I personally think you'd be a fool not to at least think about it......
Unless your doing up your Saxo or what ever car you've got, to the apsolute MAX, turbo, chip, etc.... then losing a few bhp aint going to do anything, you wouldnt even notice it...
They say that an induction adds 3-5 BHP, i noticed fuck all when i got mine, except a fucking huge petrol bill lol.... so you wouldnt notice losing a few bhp if any....
PLUS its supposed to be good for your engine, IF installed properly!!!!
I love the way Sax-p works..... Someone says somthing is rubbish and then you all follow like sheep to the shepard.....
I think some of you need to stop shaking in your little boots and stand up for your own opinoions.....
Im not trying to start somthing, but some people do just follow others.....
Enjoy

I looked at getting my Punto "Squeak" LPG'd (it was that or buy the Saxo, you can see the outcome...)
The cheap systems (from £1600) use a single point tank, installed in the spare tyre well (there isn't one in the saxo) or in the boot, so you lose the space. Single point tanks are more dangerous than multi point tanks (single uses one tube for filling and release of gas to the engine) as they can "blow up" much more easily than the multi point (I think thats what they are called). The multi point ones cost a lot more - the whole system costs £2400.
You also have to have a second hole drilled into the car for the filler cap, which I didn't want done.
The cost of fuel, well, in true government style, wait until everyones got it then kill em with tax. They will put the tax up soon on it - it is almost "loss making" for the oil companies.
They (the company I was going to use) quoted me £1854 for single point tank, or £2645 for the multi point tank.
Don't forget to tell the insurance company - it will hike the premium too as having a gas cylinder in the car is a danger...
If you are doing that kind of mileage, it will benefit you enormously, so do it lad!
Mike
P.S. Was that you in Burgess Hill last week near Triangle?
