Hey everyone,

Been doing quite alot of hard driving within the last few hours quite constant to be honest. When i picked my friend up i took it up to about 5500-6000rpm and got a sort of really metallic rasp as i got above 5000rpm.

I have a supersprint full race system fitted and green panel filter. This is the first time i have heard the noise but like i said i have been doing alot of driving at this point. It does it weather im in gear or not but i would say a little more when in gear. I would like to hope this would rule out it being a gearbox problem because of it doing it in neutral.

It is a well serviced engine with 65,000 on the clock. I might be worrying over nothing. Going to let it cool down and take it out again for a quick spin to see if the noise is there from a cooler temperature.

Thanks

i get this when i been driving for a few hours,i dont think its a problem though as it might be exhaust getting hot, expanding and letting the gases flow more

Have you still got your cat in? Could be the honeycomb internal stuff, it all clogs up and gets bashed around.

The rasping metallic noise is your supersprint system mate, it's supposed to do that

yeh i hope so its just sometimes it sounds like it comes from sort of near me under the car, guess it could be the centre pipe echoing and then sometimes it def comes from the rear lol. Mine is totally stripped carpet and everything so im used to noises just its weird, had the system for a year now and i really like it but this just started to happen out the blue. Had been driving all day fairly hard though.

just feel for leacks at the joins aswell, but a raspy metallic noise it kinda the trademark of supersprint race systems
