hat is off to you mate well done!
cheers :D:D im so happy its finally in :D
When you say you're getting a load of fuel coming out the return... Does that mean you've bit plumbed in a return line?
I think the fuel pressure on a vtr is 3.5 bar and the pressure for a vts is 3 bar, so the fpr on the fuel rail has a load of fuel to get rid of.
You'll probably find it overfuels like a bitch if you don't plumb in a fuel return line :(
Good job on getting it running though mate!
no i haven't plumbed one in yet but looks as if i might have to tho, :( a lot of people say to just put a screw in the fuel return with some thread lock to stop it coming out apparently some saxos run OK like this and some don't, if the fuel has no where to go will it just stay in the fuel rail? or will i get bad economy by not plumbing a return in? also how hard is it to plumb one in is it just a pipe that goes from the fuel rail to the fuel tank? if so it doesn't seam to difficult, might have to go down to the Peugeot garage and get the kit to do it!
and thanks buddy well pleased it started up :D

hes gay!
yes it will overfuel as it will all be sitting by the injectors instead of the correct amount passing thru....
a fuel return isnt that hard follow the orginal hose back to the pump...
might need a different pump tho as will need a return (unless you can connect it to the tank another way...)
and yes i am crazy always awake with mental ideas :panic:

It'll Probably overfuel :(
It's easy enough to put a return line in.
There's a guide on here somewhere.
You can use the exuding fuel pump. The fpr on the vtr is on top of the tank next to the fuel pump.
You've just got to work out what pipes go where.
You've got to drop the tank too.. Which is easy enough if you've not got much petrol in it :p
If not find a hosepipe :p

The easiest thing to do would be to get the return line off the car you got the engine out of. That might not be possible though.
If you buy fuel hose off ebay make sure it's designed for injection engines.
I bought some that was designed for carb engines and it didn't really have any structure at all :P
Try it with the fuel return blocked up tomorrow though. It might be alright, you never know!

ive just ordered 4m of goodyear fuel hose, and i messaged sparco_tom and he explained to me just simplely connect it to the fuel return on the fuel rail, run it down the car and connect it to the input on the pump, remove the fpr and connect a bit of pipe from the output on the pump the the input on the filter so it goes
fuel pump-fuel filter-fuel rail-back to fuel pump
i could have got the return off the donor car but for £15 i just bought some new stuff
and as soon as i get out of bed and i do my exhaust up properly its going for its test drive, as i shoved a bolt with a load of tiger seal on down the pipe on the fuel return lol it might hold for a few days lol i might put it in to a bottle under the engine bay to catch any bits of fuel, but nothing should get past the tiger seal lol

I'm sorry.. you're struggling to get out of bed to finish this????? :fcuk::fcuk::fcuk:
:D
The bolt should be fine. I think i had an m12 bolt in the pipe and it held fine. Was a pretty tight fit mind!
Get some videos up!
Go safe when you get it on the road... i remember my test drive when i had 16V.... went out playing with a superbike on an A road :P

well good news i supose lol i took it for a drive then the red coolant light came on lol i got home fast and my patched up coolant pipe had burst again so i need to replace that hose before i can drive it again really and also the clutch is horrible its like on or off and you have to let it off sooooo slowly its unbelievable on my gravel drive i cant pull off with out it wheel spinning so im gonna have to look in to that .
but the good news is that is driveable and its idles at 1k rpm and starts every time so i suppose the 16v conversion is complete lol ill get some videos up later this week when ive replaced the coolant hose

i went to citroen today to get a new lower rad hose and they wanted £38+VAT!!! so i said no thank you lol instead i bought an almost brand spanking VTS nissens rad, slim line fan and lower rad hose to replace my VTR nissens rad cant believe how big it is compared to the old one :P lol i ended up using the standard fan tho i cba to wire up the slim line one when i actually have no need for a slim line one so my old VTR nissens rad and slim line fan are up for sale

few little things, the clutch needs setting up properly and the rad needs bleeding apart from that its all good, oh and i need to plumb in the fuel return already ordered the fuel pipe

nah fits straight in, there are two grommets which the rad sits in all you have to do is move one of the grommets to the next hole in the chassis as its bigger and you need to cut down the vtr bottom hose or just buy a vts one really simple to do

That's alright :y:
You should bleed the rad sooner rather than later.. Can be a bit dangerous having air in the coolant system. Plus it's only a ten minute of a job!
How is it running with the fuel return blocked? Is it overfueling?
Mine would black up the exhaust pipe so quickly! And it only ever got about 20mpg :( Mind you there was quite a bit wrong with mine :P

ive just driven back home from uni 90 miles and the fuel economy seamed fine but sitting in traffic i do get the slight smell of fuel which im guessing were its over fueling but it cant be that bad the mpg seams fine so far :D i think im gonna go out and do the bleeding now before i drive back to uni

At one point mine was doing about 2 miles for a quid of petrol :D
The backfiring impressed the chavs though :P
You're making me want a 16v conversion now... hmm..
With the fuel smell.. did you connect up the cam cover breather? I noticed in the pictures there's no pipe coming from it.
I used to get a petrol smell occasionally with my car, and i assumed it was because it was breathing hot oily air into the engine bay.
Would be worth getting something sorted there.. otherwise you'll messy up your engine bay :P

nah annoyingly enough there wasnt one with the engine=, originally this engine was sparco_toms he must of not had it or something, ive got a nice long list of bits and bobs i need to pick up from the scrappy lol
and yea do it!!! it feels so nice to have the second cam kick in around 5k rpm i think it is, just where the 8v drops off this just keeps pulling as i guess u are fully aware lol

*update*
only a little one, i was coming back from oxford back home for easter and my bloody lower coolant hose decided to silt out side oxford luckily enough my mate had a samco hose lying around in the house so he very kindly drove out to me with a jack and a set of mole grips and i was there lying on the floor fitting this hose on the side of the duel carriage way ha, i got home and i bought a coolant hose from mandyslover70 for £15 posted and today i got around to swapping them over and i bled the coolant system for the first time i never new how easy it was now it doesn't go over halfway on the temp gauge :D anyway here are a few pics, oh yea i bought a 150pc halfords professional tool box :D

Those tool kits are awesome :P Makes working on the car so much easier :)
I noticed on the slam panel you've still got the little plastic cover bit over the radiator. They're there to block the gap down the side of the standard short radiator, but now you have the big one, you're blocking it!
I think that sentence made sense.. i dunno though..
Keep it up!

i always wondered what that plastic was there for! lol yea it must be blocking a lot of air as this new rad takes up the whole of the front of the car, cheers for that :y:
and yea its so nice finally having my own tools i usually use my brothers stuff but he left it all at his gf's and its about time i finally bought myself my first tool kit at 20 yrs old lol
plans for the future:
Bodywork:
the grille is being smoothed and sprayed gloss black aswell as the mirrors
gonna get the wheels powder coated professionally
need to secure the n/s side skirts on properly (i bought the wrong clips :wall:)
mechanical:
full service inc cambelt
K&N cold air feed for std air box (already has a K&N filter in there)
266mm front brakes
other:
tidy engine bay up eg fit ecu cover (left it in oxford :wall:)
bolt the coil pack cover down and buy citroen sport badge for it
spray/polish cam covers
clean the seats up (got dirty from the engine conversion)
and sort out the ice

yea on motorways i usually stick to the slow lane as i just don't trust these brakes to stop me safely and yea if your front brakes are much better than the rear ones then the front of the car slows down fast but the rear isnt slowing down at the same rate so then the rear end needs somewhere to go so thats when the rear slides out to the side (even with the standard brakes my rear end always goes to the left under very heavy braking)

Have you adjusted the rear brake bias when you got it lowered?
I just disconnected it, so i don't think the back brakes are getting enough power going to them :P
It's a lot safer than before mind... kept ending up stopping at traffic lights sideways :P

i lol'd at that quite a lot lol nah i haven't adjusted the bias valve (i dont think so, a garage did it and they didnt say anything about it) but the bias valve was siezed and it was fixed in january at mot time so actually that might have sorted the braking issue out, i haven't had to test the brakes that hard yet lol

there is someone (cant remember his name for the life of me lol) on 106oc that sells refurbed 266mm and 283mm calipers, painted in red, black, silver or blue and comes with a set of mintex pads for £85, so i would still need to get disc's, braided hoses, new brake fluid ( my brake fluid needs to be changed was bought up when it was mot'd) and i think ill get a bigger m/c at the same time as well as some mintex pads for the rear (i need new rear brake pads aswell bought up at mot time lol)

had a close shave today i thought i properly f**ked my car, it wasn't starting properly yesterday kept making a high pitched screaming noise lol so i took the starter motor off to check it, and all was good so i just bolted it back on and turned the key and success it worked! so took it for test drive and it cut out with engine management light on! so i sat in the car for 30 min on the side of the road on saxp on my phone trying to sort it out
http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo16/jeffchiz/CIMG00262.jpg
luckily db_sax came to my aid told me to check my earths and i found a green earth wire ripped out the gear box, i must have done it when messing around with the starter motor so i ran home got a 13mm spanner and ran back and all was good!
also been thinking about changing my rear lights back to standard what do you think?

everyone and his wife has them tho lol the only reason i wanted to go back to standard lights was because these lights collect sooo much water i have to keep emptying them lol and smoked jewels are the same as my lights i have now except darker so i can see these building up loads of water as well :/
M3 style ones look beter imo but i reckon some standard MK2's would look ok too
yea they are my favorite as not many people have them and they suit the car more but as i said in the above post they collect soo much water in them and my rear lights have stopped working even though the bulbs and fuse are fine so im thinking all the water that builds up inside them has messed around with the electrics, on tuesday i think im gonna take it to my local garage and see if they can suggest anything

there is someone (cant remember his name for the life of me lol) on 106oc that sells refurbed 266mm and 283mm calipers, painted in red, black, silver or blue and comes with a set of mintex pads for £85, so i would still need to get disc's, braided hoses, new brake fluid ( my brake fluid needs to be changed was bought up when it was mot'd) and i think ill get a bigger m/c at the same time as well as some mintex pads for the rear (i need new rear brake pads aswell bought up at mot time lol)
Oh hai!
I'll add you to my growing list of people gagging for brakes. Seems I need to get my third batch in ASAP, that list is getting rather long.
I'll get in touch as and when I know what i can get my hands on :y:
(EDIT: db_sax has a set from me if you had a chance to gander at his big chunky stoppers whilst he was saving your arse :P)

I have some mk2 lights sitting around if you want some.
Just the outer bit, none of the electricals.. but i'm guessing you've already got all that. You can have them for the cost of postage if you want.
Or if you make it up to the Bolton Abbey meet on the 25th you can have them for free!

luke- its not condensation at the end of the day all rear lights are is a shell of plastic, its headlights that get condensation as they are supposed to be a sealed unit, whereas rear lights aren't a sealed unit, it is literally just water leaking in the whole thing was full of water and i mean full lol

sorted my light problem out, i went to my local garage and bought a new bulb, but now one light had a working tail light but not brake light and the other had a working brake light but not a a tail light lol so the owner came out and said he'll take a look, i backed it in to the garage and he got his multimeter out and within 30 seconds he realised the contacts had oxidised so he shot blast the light boards and sprayed them in some sort of special grease and voila it worked! then we had to work out why my fog light wasn't working when he had a closer look there was a double filament bulb in the fog light:wall: obviously foglights only need a single filament bulb so we changed that and all my lights worked!! yay lol oh yea i also ordered a k&n cold air feed for my standard air box, i want to get a red induction pipe as well but i need the diameter of the vts throttle body and oem air box

yea i was so tempted to get a raceland induction kit for £60 and you have to spend another £30 to get the decent green filter for it and i knew i was only getting it for the looks so i stopped being gay and decided to keep the oem air box lol also it has a pretty new k&n filter in it and now ive ordered this cold air feed

had a bit of police trouble last night lol we were just sitting in maccys having something to eat and these two coppers were swarming around our cars so we took our time eating finally 30min later we came out asked them if anything was up they got us all to stand next to our cars and they took all our details and asked for all our license's gave me and my mate a bit of a warning for our plates, seamed like a waste of time blocking our cars in for 30min just to get our details and then not even do us for anything strangeeeee lol was so funny they had a reason to pull over anyone that came in to the carpark either no front number plate, driving a bit to fast etc etc usually no one is out and on the one day there's a copper out, the world and his wife were driving past in the end there was about 15 cars all lined up while they checked them all, then 4 cyclists came it and they pulled them for not having lights! we were on all fours pissing our selves when they got pulled, it was so funny, and the copper picked his handcuffs off the back seat of his car so he got ripped for that :P they were actually all right and had a bit of a laugh with us then we told him to do a wheel spin out the car park and he did! again we were pissing our selves, legend ha

Speaking of mad coppers.... i was driving home the other night, following an astra diesel cop car out of town, doing 30-35 the whole way through town, as soon as he got to the national speed limit.. he booted it!
I had to follow him... He was doing like 80-90 along this road, and overtook a car. I figured he must be on the way to something.
We followed him right into the petrol station where he did a spot of shopping!!
Crazy :P

well to speed they are supposed to have there lights on we had this converstaion with the police last night lol apparently police are allowed to speed when ever they like as long as they dont take the piss thats what the copper said last night :S ive had a copper follow me for about 30min i kept doing laps around town around the bypass went down random one way roads and they stuck on my tail i almost pulled over and asked them do they want anything lol but i know my tires were probably illegal so i just stuck it out and eventually buggered off i know they are doing there job but it doesn't take 30min to take my number plate down and check my details does it lol
anyway moving on to a brighter note my cam cover just turned up 5 min ago as well they look sexual :P

well you've always got the engine for a later date if you decide to fit it, how come you changed insurance companies? im guessing you had to pay out for another deposit? thats a good thing if just staying with the original insurer dont have to pay a couple hundred quid insurance lol
oh and yea they do look a lot nicer when the covers are polished up :D 8v's can look good though, as long as the rocker cover doesn't have any rust on it and there aren't any leaks around the rocker cover gasket, my 8v looks pretty shitty tbh lol

Well the policy i'm on atm, they give me 1 year ncb for having pass plus. And that is 1800.
My renewal quote, with them giving me 2 years ncb is 1700!
Did the compare the market thingy... and i can get it down to 1050, with my 1 year of no claims.
Makes sense.. as i wanted to pay it all in one go when my student loan comes in.
It just makes me angry that with my current company, i'm getting a 15% discount for my extra years no claims, and i think a £200 loyalty bonus.. and yet they still want 1700 a year!

yea that is a lot for an 8v:P lol my student loan came through last thursday so ive had it just over a week thats why ive a a little spending spree on the engine bay bits :P im trying my hardest to not buy dan_subtle's borbet a's lol

I'm a bit in love with my job at the moment.. Just driving around town listening to music and getting paid :P
It's all fine until stuff breaks on the car.. then i'm not so happy.
I think summer work is the way forwards.. I should be working over summer, but the money will be going on paying off my overdraft and car insurance etc :(

Yeh, they pay my fuel. It normally more than covers it so i get a bit of beer money extra each night. I think i can also claim back the tax on the petrol... but i'd have to fill in a form. Forms make me angry!

cheers bud, well i bought the cam covers lol i cheated lol but you can use auto glem metal polish, id sand them down then keep sanding gradually using fine paper to get rid of the scratch marks untill smooth then use metal polish and they will come up good, willsy who used to own the cam covers said he spent 12 hours polishing them and i really couldnt be bothered to do that lol

You really should get into the whoring scene.... it's a lot of fun..
And it means you can "work" on the car when you have no money :D
Plus making it stupidly clean makes a biiig difference.

I quite like the idea of getting a rallye after my VTR..
Dunno though, wouldn't you miss having 16 valves?
Although having any kind of fuel economy again would be good i guess...
And the noise you'd get in a rallye... and the cam :D:D:D
jeffchiz
12th April 2010, 10:50
lmao yea its all down to the fuel economy :( i burned through £20 of fuel in day on Friday its ridiculous lol and the rallye shouldnt be far off the 16v but obv will run out of puff sooner i will miss the second cam kicking in lol also it will be less to insure than a 16v vtr, and with the pugsport and manifold should sound good, anyway im at uni theres no reason for me to have a gas guzzling monster :P lol but i have put so much work in to this car :(

cheers mate, if you wanna smooth the fogs id get the fog light covers plastic welded to the bumper, but id get it all done professionally i attempted smoothing the front and rear bumpers but in the end i got all done professionally as i knew if i did it it would end up cracking lol

nah mate willsy did it off here he sold them on then that owner sold them to me as he never fitted them, i will polish up my original ones and sell them on at some point, but i couldn't wait to have a shiny set of covers lol apparently they had 12 hours of polishing and they were skimmed to ensure a perfect seal with the head, 12 hours doesn't seam to long to polish them up but imagine how sore your hand would be after 12 hours of polishing lol

yea and the fact they are a straight fit, no hub adaptors, no spacers just bolt on and go, which is quite hard to find with rare wheels as your lucky with what you find usually lol most decent wheels are either 5 stud or come in 4x100 which is rather annoying, especially bbs wheels i dont think ive ever seen any with a 4x108 stud pattern :wall:

lol i only done the deal a few min ago! lol they are dan subtle's old wheels, perfect condition apart from one which was scratched on the rim when the tires were being fitted, the tires are nearly new and they are a straight fitment no hub adapters and no spacers :y: also the bolts were brand new when he fitted them and had them balanced and i got both styles of centre caps, which are worth about £80 i think for a set of caps

I personally think you should keep the lip blue. I don't know why but it sets the car of perfectly for me. Its true that wheels make a car because it has taken your car to another level.
Well done mate, keep it up. :y:

cheers guys for you opinions i think its going to have to be black spokes, red dish! lol
garner90- thanks for your comment means a lot, but i just don't like the blue, its throwing a third colour in the mix which i wouldn't think would work, i think that's why people didn't like the rallye steels so much because they were white and nothing else on the car was, i wanna spray them a different colour just to make them my own wheels otherwise i'll constantly get "oh their dan's old wheels" ;) lol
dan- hands off:boxing: lol at fcs i think im gonna have to buy 4 sets of locking nuts other wise im come back and see my car with a set of rallye steels back on and you wondering around with a guilty face  lol sorry havent got around to buying some more locking nuts yet as my driviers side drive shaft is f**ked, it statring pulling hard to the right when i was accelerating coming back from yours and when i got back in to oxford at some traffic lights it was really hard to pull off and the car was shaking loads when releasing the clutch and my hosue mate says it must be the drive shaft, luckily we have a two piece shaft in our shed, i was going to fit it today. But after my little purchase last night ;) theres no point in me fitting it yet lol as i was very bored at 5am this morning, couldn't get to sleep so i did a little shopping spree on kam racing :fcuk: i bought the following goodies to sort the suspension/ brakes out!

On a lighter note, wheels look sweet! Have you thought about getting the centres sprayed red and have the lip diamond cut. that would look spot on imo.

yea i have thought about that then it would be similar to yours lol for the time being im gonna do the dishes my self as i cant drive around with a blue lip on a red car then ill get some quotes on doing it properly, but first of all i wanna fit all the bits im just bought also give the car a full service and once im happy with the mechanics side of thins then im gonna give the bodyshop a list of jobs to do, then i wanna do the interior, im thinking gti rear bench and some raceland recliners also i might be buying dan's boot install then once all that is done then ill look in to doing the wheels
im thinking the gearbox mount may have snapped that could explain why its on the piss and shakes so much when i pull off :S

Them wheels will look class with a red lip/dish, the engine does look abit wonky! How low are you gona drop the rear? Comming on very nice now. What bodyshop plans you got?

i think i'll go down another 20mm at the back its 65mm at the moment, dan had his 80mm with the borbets and it looked good
in the body shop i want the following done
-re-paint front bumper all red with the gloss black bump strip (so theres no black widemouth)
-paint mk2 spoiler gloss black and fit
-paint mirrors gloss black
-de-badge, smooth and spray grille gloss black
-(maybe) smooth aerial and paint roof gloss black

i really wanted 206 gti brakes but dan wasnt sure they would fit under and no one messaged me on a thread i started and i havent got any mates with 266mm brakes to test fit my wheels, and i read good things about the maxtorq discs and they aren't overly expensive so i thought id give them a go, has to be better than what ive got! lol

just done a (s**t) photoshop, one wheel red with a polished dish and a polished wheel with a red lip so its either one of these or black with red lip
http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo16/jeffchiz/P1230004dcopy.jpg
its best to only look at one wheel at a time and cover the other wheel with your hand makes it easier to visualise it, i really like the red with a polished lip :y:

Stealth106
18th April 2010, 00:49
yh cos they do it any different!!! pleb!.......
just need few more coats.....easyist cheapest way is to get em acid dipped then polish spray yourself as the prep is the hardest bit (getting the paint off without scratching the wheels) if u can do that just metal polish after.....depending on condition...
anyway got enought to do at the minute....think im upto 5 sets to refurb! we will see whos looks better ;)
Stealth106
18th April 2010, 00:50
also are your centre covers metal as if they arnt you would need to get em sprayed chrome effect :o or just get some made ;) pimppppp
edit: lol.....the tyres are mint brand new on the comp2s and just need light going over nothing bad at all....
jeffchiz
18th April 2010, 00:55
my center caps are metal lol and i think if i get them done professionally its gonna look a tiny bit better than some home made job in the back garden, i aint gonna mess around with these wheels, anyway the centres are being sprayed red with a polished dish so it wouldn't matter about the centre caps

right well i decided to change the 1.1 gearbox to my vtr box, two reasons, some studs snapped off in the g/box when the mount snapped so the box had to come off to use my extractor set anyway so i thought f**k it I'll put the vtr box on as my current mpg is killing my wallet atm, oh yea also when i was taking the box off my kam racing package turned up :P
wheels off, jacked up

Yeh true :y:
I think getting the engine at the right angle is half the battle.
It's just such an awkward angle to maneuver, i hate gearboxes :)
I'll probably take the entire engine out to change mine.
Need to get an XSI or VTS box on it at some point... Realised the only gear i used at Elvington was 3rd....

A bit of polish and some wax makes such a difference :P
