What kinda things lower the price of insurance?
Obv adding Parents as Named drivers and so on?
Not looking for cheesy comments guys.
Please, Post if you actually know good things to tell the company, to lower my prices.
Thanks

Put the minimal amount of annual miles as possible. Ive got 5k per year and that knocked of a few hundred after having 10k down.
Pick your named drivers carefully and think about it a bit more. Yes, add your Mum and Dad but do they have x amount of NCB and have good jobs. I didnt put my Mum as one as she is unemployed even though she has several years NCB.
I think increasing volantary excess can help too, just dont let it go too high.
Take Pass Plus too, (did I read you havnt passed yet in another thread?).

That may work but you might be asked to provide evidence.
Actually, if its a company car, can it be classified as 'social and commuting?'

the way you spell your name, first, middle and sir name will make a difference.
im Matthew Joseph in full... tell them ints Joseph Matthew and it dropped. because Joseph is a more calm name... serioulsy, thats how stupid it is.
if there is anyway you can get it insured at a different adress, i.e if parents live in two different places. my brothers insurance was 1100 when he moved to his new house, when he lived at home, in a "nicer" area it was jsut shy of 900.
living out of the city, is cheaper too.
less anual miles obviously
volentry acess
pass plus doesnt work that much any more tbh.
take the IAM test and the advanced police test, will lower it alot.
but you dont want to be playing around with insurance companies too much, really...

wtf? then thats not your real name?
i never used it, i jsut heard about it and tried to quote it ...
but, you can use your middle name instead of your first name if you want... my mum and all her formal documents come through as her middle name rather than her first name... if the bank accepts it, why wouldnt insurance?

i didnt say they wouldnt accept it, becuase they might not find out. Problem comes if they do somehow say, 'your not joseph mathew, your mathew joseph' which is like giving a flase name isnt it?

pass plus knocked £200 pounds off my insuarnce and a thacthem approved alarm can knock between 5% and 10% off depending on certain companys.

Does having 5 doors compared to 3 make a difference or is that just horse manour?

horse. The car itself will be graded according to the Insurance Group rating anyhow.... so with something like a 3 or a 5 door it's grouping is decided before the car even leaves the show room... not something you can modify on a policy later.

Like above, leave the car standard, increase your excess, choose max of two good named drivers of middle age, limit the miles (if you actually are going to do limited miles), shop around.
But the most important thing is... HAGGLE with the companies.

Depends on the area you live in too.
I live on the border between two counties.
On one side theres a city, the other side is more of a calm little town.
I quoted both sides and its way more expensive to get insured in the city.
Not sure if that would work where you live?

I got a quote with my mum as a named driver and it was about £200 more than with my boyfriend as a named driver. Try someone thats other than a parent, like a bf/gf. :y:
My saxo insurance was a steal compared with me as a named driver on my boyfriends car.It was over £7000 and he's got 8 years no claims!:(

you can get a new thing now where you have it fitted with a tracker so they can either insure you depending on how you drive or you can put a kerfew on your driving say like 11 at night or something, but thats probs not such a great idea. they dont invalidate it if you go out just charge you like an extra £30

Is it being kept in a garage? Because if it is, say its being kept on the drive! I know it sounds rediculous but it does work out cheaper! I can't understand the logic behind it. But drive is cheaper then garage :/

Job title makes a huge differance, they nearly cancelled my insurance because aparently my "job description" dosent fall under what they would class me as.
My employer classes the job as that, therefore - thats my fucking job.

I got mine down to £267 a year with my other half as a named driver , but I do pay monthly so its a little bit more but still alot cheaper then it was , if it was just me on it
