they are to stop car bombs and stuff getting into buildings, because chances are, a bomb that could take a huge building out, cant be put under a teatowel on your head

Well the suicide bomber isn't going to crash at full speed and then detonate cos he might get injured or die from the impact so therefor an unsuccessful mission for them. Don't they go outside the building and blow themselves up usually???

This isnt a cure to peopel blowing emselves up, it's just a way to help avoid teh most damaging forms of terrorist bombing ie a truck can carry tons of explosives, a person with a rucksack can't
