Basically ive been getting alot of work from mates for me to detail cars etc. Word has got around and im getting loads more customers. Thing is the parents have started to mention insurance just incase anything fooks up. Only really because ive had two new customers approach me, one has a dbs and one has an original gt40. And they live within 2mins drive from me and i never knew lol.
My question is how do i got about insurance? Not got a clue about it, has anyone got a detailing business that they have insurance for and want to shed some light?

You'll need public liability insurance mate, I'd say upto £1,000,000 cover is enough (that's lowest you can get I think).

I'm insured via Direct Line and I pay something like £70 for year which isn't bad if you ask me. I am insured to £1m for just myself as it asks how many people you can working etc.

That's upto the person I guess really, but I'd imagine it would make it more liable to been caught. I'm all registered anyway - I have a business bank account, do my own tax etc and public liability insurance.

You can declare it though, and if your keeping turnover to less than £60K a year there is no need to be VAT registered.
