has anyone watched yesterday?

first time i saw the modifying the renault challenge.

what do you think to the mod's they did; enhanced brakes, better suspension, racing tyres and an F1 fin and a wooden splitter lol...

I would have done most of what they did but a bit different so; enhanced suspension, racing tyres, cam's and an exhaust system with an air induction and stripped the back. i would have probbaly left out the expensive brakes lol

They are allways staged, bit like the 306 in the hillclimb.

It was just fucking funny to watch.

Rob_Furio7
27th April 2009, 18:03
yeah if that 306 didnt have heavy hydraulics and all that audio it would have gone alot faster. plus stiggy didnt have the best start...

PORKYSBITZ
27th April 2009, 18:13
major fail lol why spend that much on wheels + tyres ? they could have turbo'd it for that lol

KamRacing
27th April 2009, 18:30
should have got us involved :D we would have completed the challenge (but wouldn't be as funny on TV probably)

Jorge-
27th April 2009, 18:33
i dont care that its staged, because it makes great tv and the 3 together are absolute legends.

but it was the first challenge that was of some interest, not like soft top 7seater, or £1000 supercars lol

iw_laurence
27th April 2009, 18:37
brakes were overkill lol. would have got some clio v6 brakes on there, cams, turbo, stripped and nice coilovers then some r888's and cage and strutbraces and your sorted lol

Rob_Furio7
27th April 2009, 19:18

iw_laurence
27th April 2009, 19:21

also there will allways be varied opinions of how to do things

imo strip it to death and then see where to go from there

That aventine was phat at the end. I would buy it lol

28th April 2009, 08:05
Coulda so easily made up the time they needed, spent money on tyres then on R888's, though they shoulda just done that in the first place. Spent silly money on the suspension, which they coulda spent nowhere near as much and I personally dont think it would've been any worse, then that'd have left them with more money for other stuff.

Apparently the only difference between that and the V6 Clio's is the map, so they could've had the map done et voila, 255bhp.

exactly

its all for entertainment value rather than a factual car programe

the reason why 5th gear's ratings have picked up

Jorge-

5th gear is for gays.
/end of.

I think Jeremy talks rubbish about not being able to do an oil change, he obviously knows a fair bit, hes not an idiot.

Have you seen when they build that caterham, jezza is so bad they promote him to making tea, he puts the seat in the wrong way aswell. lol

Jorge-
28th April 2009, 09:22
As said, its staged.

If they all just sat there and built it, there wouldnt be a problem and the TV would suck.

Was a great episode but I remember it being really badly shot, like when theyd put buckets in in half of the shots on the buckets lap the interior was still in. Even with the shots of stig inside the car. Which I thought was a pretty poor effort

Jamie
28th April 2009, 10:08
I would have done it differently, but the episode was awsome lol

totaly staged, he knows a fair bit. But that episode is quite good, at the end and he slides it out of the garage lol

furiomike
28th April 2009, 11:31
lots is staged, but i can imagine what they did to that aventime did achive the gains they showed. it did need more of a diet and more emphesis on engine not brakes.

At the end they said that modding is pointless.....well it is if you pic the complety wrong car!!!!

Dark_Hero
29th April 2009, 21:45
haha it was funny.
Yeah I kinda disagree with them about modding is a waste of money.
They could have done it differently.
I'm no expert but I would have stripped it, firmed the suspension. I wouldn't have thought the brakes would have made much difference as its a single lap.
I'm not sure how long doing the cams take, but they only had 2 days for the mods..
