!10 month thing wil give you a years no claims after 10 months, it wil be showen as 1 years no claims on your certificate and can be used with ANY insurance company if you choose to move after.

I strongly advise payng in one go as there charges for monthly payments are stupid £1300 anually - £1980 for monthly for me.

All in all a good expeirence and good staff.

The 10 month thing is wank, 9/10 insurance companies will accept you have 10 months NCB, but theyre way out of it is saying to have a years NCB you need 12 months of claim free driving. So 2 10 month NCBs would still be seen as one NCB for example. Got loads of mates who got caught out by the scheme when it first came out. Its all clever wording.

The actual company are good, cheap prices and they let you drive other cars TP for a small fee. Ive been with them this year. Mods are expensive to declare though, its like 40-80 per mod.

Taken from bells site:

The Bell Bonus Accelerator is a policy that runs for 10 months instead of 12, and at the end of the 10 months, providing you have been claim free, you will earn a full year's No Claims Bonus.

How does it work?

You will be able to get cheaper car insurance quicker because at the end of the 10 months we'll give you a renewal based on another full year's No Claims Bonus. Also with Bell's Bonus Accelerator you won't have to pay your tax, MOT and insurance at the same time. So you'll have at least one less thing to worry about on that date.

[B]What if I choose not to renew?

If you want to leave Bell after the 10 months (although we hope you'll want to stay with us) then don't worry because we will give you proof of the No Claims Bonus you have earned with us.

What happens if I make a claim?

If you make a claim then the same rules will apply for the 10 month policy as for our 12 month. However, the Bonus Accelerator policy gives you the chance to regain your No Claims Bonus quicker.

this comes in the form of a renweal certificate with 1 years no claims stamped on and nothing else :)

Hardly anyone accepts it though mate trust me. I can think of 4 people off the top of my head that got fucked by this. Its all clever wording and legal shiz. You may get a document but if other companies choose not to accept them then what will Bell care as your leaving them anyway.

Agree with Ben, the 10 month policys are shite.

I was on one with Elephant and I had so much bother trying to get insurance, as I got refused from a few places as it isn't 1 yrs NCB.

I've been with Bell for the past 2 years and always thought they were ok but I won't be renewing with them. In March 2008 I changed over to my private plate and they didn't charge me a penny, just sent me out a new certificate. Renewal time came round and I didn't receive the paperwork through and I ended up forgetting all about it until 2 days after the old policy ran out. I decided to stay with them but it took them 6 weeks of me ringing for them to send out my new insurance certificate.

At the beginning of March I rang to change my address over to my new one and they wanted to charge me £15 admin fees to do it. I ended up arguing with them that I hadn't paid to change my plate and for a new insurance certificate to be sent out so why should they charge to change an address on a computer. He tried telling me that it was to pay for the building, electricity, computers and the staff working there. Me, my boyfriend, my mum, my brother and my dad (insuring 2 cars) are all with them and must pay thousands to them combined so I'm sure that helps to pay for the running costs of the business. They also wanted to charge my boyfriend the same admin fee for changing the address when he's only just paid them an admin fee for changing the car over to another one just 1 week before we moved.

The final straw with the company came last week. My brother had a dozy idiot in a 4X4 reverse back into his MGTF at a junction. Claimed he didn't see him. Anyway he accepted liability and his insurance company sent a letter through to say this as well as informing Bell of it. So my brother rings Bell to sort out the repairs to his car and they said he had to pay a £750 excess!!!!! So he argued that he shouldn't have to pay an excess because it was the other guys fault and it's going through his company and they are paying for the repairs. Bell say that he has to pay the excess up front in case they can't get the money off the other guys insrance company and when they pay up he gets it back. So my brother is by passing Bell and dealing with the other guy's insurance company directly. So Bell will have lost 6 cars worth of insurance come renewal time

To be fair, most cpmpanies will charge an admin fee for policy alterations. Its a bonus that they didn't charge you when you swapped plates.
Also, every insurance company will ask you to pay your excess when you make aclaim. I had to when I crashed my saxo. The lady at elephant even said on the phone that even though the accident clearly wan't my fault, she was really sorry, but she had to ask for my credit card details to take my excess payment!! Got it back when the claim was settled though.

I've been with Bell for a year as they were cheap. Just had my renewal through, and that is cheaper than most other quotes from other companies. Had a new quote through from them also, and that is £100 lower than renewal price, and over £500 less than most other quotes I'm getting. I will be using them again :D

Bell are shite full stop their cheap for a reason. Admiral are not much more expensive and the service is far better.

I have used Bell for 2 years and yes they are cheap but they are incompetent when it comes to claim dealings.
