Was at the petrol station putting air in my tyres. Some ford galaxy came reversing straight at me at speed, just missed my head luckly move, smashed into the side of my car, then sped off, nearlly hitting another women getting petrol.

Took her details like, stupid cow.

She drove out the wrong way of the petrol station through the pumps nearly hitting all other cars.......

Got a witness aswel and her details.
Guy at the petrol station was a dick... said they dont keep CCTV for more than 24 hours.

Rang the police aswel....

Door wont open properly and a scuff on my arch....

Fucking gutted and annoyed but luckly she didnt crush my head :(

Peejous

Get the head office phone number. My dads mate had this problem, he had to go to head office. Give them a call. They wont say no if you tell them the police are involved. And they will keep it longer than 24hours.

EDIT : Although, he didnt have as big of a problem. Its was a broken mirror, but you get the point!

steviee90
28th April 2009, 09:07
yeah mate, theres some law about if you are being filmed, you have the right to view the tape when you ask to see it

Peejous
28th April 2009, 09:08
If you are on the CCTV camera's data protection act says you can have a copy.

If they wont release the tapes, go to your nearest police station report the incident and let them know about the CCTV and say its all on there.

Garage HAVE to release the tapes to the police / show the footage or they are breaking the law.

http://www.saxperience.com/forum/images/buttons/edit.gif Also minimum time they can keep tapes is 31 days / 1 month.

Not 24 hours

phillyh
28th April 2009, 09:09
Guys chatting utter sweaty balls about the CCTV.
If she drove through the pumps they'll have her on CCTV 110%

I work in a shop and we keep our cctv recordings on the internal HD of the
system for 14 days. Sometimes police obviously cant make it 24 hours after
a crime etc.

So its certain they keep it for at LEAST 7-14 days iirc.

Steve
28th April 2009, 09:10
spoke to garage, told them the police are involved AGAIN said they will happily let the police view the tapes.

Cant believe she didnt stop. Nearly ran a women over (dawn ;)) aswel getting out the car,

Steve
28th April 2009, 09:11

The reason they can't let you view them is because it has other people on as well.

When / if you get a copy all other peoples plates / faces will be edited out like a channel 5 porno.

Barry123

Peejous
28th April 2009, 09:20
Are these laws or guidelines?
http://www.met.police.uk/crimeprevention/cctv.htm

There are a few simple rules to ensure that CCTV is not rendered useless:

1. Change tapes daily
2. Use them no more than 12 times
3. Keep tapes for at least a month
4. Use good quality tapes and check them by playing them on a different machine
5. Ensure that the picture is clear - it needs to be clear enough to identify people and vehicles
6. Check that the time and date displays are correct
7. Check that the picture is covering the right area
8. Make sure there is enough light for the camera to give a proper picture

JamesR
28th April 2009, 09:20
Surely they must have to keep the CCTV? and if it had only just happened how didnt they have it?

I can't see how she's gonna worm her way out - damage on her car will indicate she hits yours, tapes at the garage etc. Hook, line and sinker. :p

CampDavid
28th April 2009, 11:10
Hit and Run, that'll hurt her badly, both with points and a ban, as well aas insurance.

Going through your insurance shouldn't be a problem, it'll all come off as her fault and they'll claim all costs through her insurance.

Be sure to put in for any out of pocket expences and take legal advice on what you can actually get out of her on a personal level,

Peejous

UPDATE

Just made a statement to the police.

The car is a rental car, she had just dropped the car off when they seen her but let her go.
There is a fair bit of damage to the galaxy, all the rear bumper is buggered.
The rental garage is just round the corner from the petrol station aswel.

Didnt realise but my arch is scratched and actually bent thats why the door is catching (think the inner arch is bent aswel), and front bumper scuffed, the garage are contacting me this afternoon to book my car in and they are repairing it all and not going via insurance.

Police are now en route to petrol station for CCTV and going to hers to get a statement from her.

All in all apart from still feeling a bit shaken as she could have hit me, seems like my car will get sorted and so will she.

Peejous
