was out the other day with my mate and i saw a man with his son who looked about 5 or 6, they were wearing subaru jackets exactly the same just different sizes obviously lol...
now i thought it was a little bit sad tbh, however my mate thought it was okay if he owned a subaru..which we never found out.
would you do it, both your and your nipper in saxo gear???
Lozzy_vtr
28th April 2009, 10:36

Maxamus
28th April 2009, 10:37

If I wanted to tell the world I have no aspirations in my motoring life then yeah I'd wear saxo gear...
*puts in an order*

you boy clean the horse..
Jazz
28th April 2009, 10:43
Maybe his dad is a massive Subaru fan and his nipper loves it when daddy straps him in and revs that flat 4 engine lol... or maybe they're wearing it as a Richard Burns/McRae tribute or something.

I think I can put my hand on my heart and say I would never wear a motorsports jacket even if I had the car to match.
See a guy down my local sometimes with a BMW jacket and he drives a Punto.

I dont think its sad IMO, maybe his son loves car and aspires to be like his dad.
Dont judge a book by its cover as they say :P

28th April 2009, 10:52
i think that any child growing up around a car enthisiast will know what different cars are tbh.
my son loves his cars and he oves driving them with us, hes only a year and a half.
i think dads share there passions with there sons, its natural.
i wouldnt think twice if i saw it.
soon my son will be out with his dad in his own overals, just like his dad,
Mikey
28th April 2009, 10:54
im not buying this passion at a young age thing, when your young you like things and hate it the week after lol.
djflipsaxo
28th April 2009, 10:57
im not buying this passion at a young age thing, when your young you like things and hate it the week after lol.
but if your bought up with cars, lorries, bikes etc etc around you, you know nothing different,
once a child becomes a certain age they can change there minds but id say its more likely for them to be in to it.
like my fella, his dads in to cars etc etc, hes well in to them now, more than his dad. my son now prefures to get the tools out the garage and pretend hes helping his dad, its what little boys do
Mikey
28th April 2009, 10:59
i can see the point on playing with your dads tools and shit, i did the same at my dads garage, probably why im into cars..
just dont get the car jackets..i think there wierd, what do they actually show..you own a car?
djflipsaxo
28th April 2009, 11:00
personally i dont have one, you dont have to be an enthusiast to own a car...

Thats not completely true Mikey, i was obbsessed with cars from a young age, regulary told to shut the fek up about cars, i used to collect and search for the cars i wanted in toys aswell, struggled to buy me a scooby regular size car infact never did get it :( anyway, i was brought up knowing cars,
My Uncle was always working on his MK2 Escort & my mum forever buying quick cars!
I love cars and sadly most of my convos still start with a car :S :geek:

im sure most vauxhall owners are more likely to debage their car rather than badge up their clothing.

VXR owners you mean? i know because of how popular the old corsa's are, the VXR's get looked up to a lot, and their owners love them. Don't think this means anything like 5% of vauxhall owners are obsessed though. if your going to obsessed about your car then why the hell would you buy a vauxhall?... unless its a vxr.

what a stupid comment to make.
every single car under the sun will have an enthusiast to go with it mate. so what its a vauxhall, your on a saxo site..saxo's arent exactly veyrons dude!!!
the badge dont mean fcuk all, if people like it, they like it.
as for vauxhall being shit, thats your opinion. but there is lots of people that will disagree.
such as the total vauxhall mag, and countless numbers of owners clubs and websites.

this is what im saying.....
i didnt say they were shit. i'm just saying out of the millions of people who own them, only a small proportion are gonna be enthusiasts. like most car makes tbh. but yeah ther are still enthusiats.
to me though vauxhall have been making boring, middle of the road cars for years and years now. every so often there was something interesting like a vx220, but the rest very boring until the vxr's over the last few years.

exactly. only slight difference been that theres less honda's around so choosing one maybe isn't quite as boring.
wearing a type r jacket is on the same level as a vxr one. is acceptable to me lol. wearing a honda one though is a bit :/ unless it was F1 themed or something.

It's not too bad mikey. My dad was obsessed with bikes when I was growing up and I'd forever be down the garage "helping him out" we both went down to a massive harley meet one evening and both returned with harley and orange county choppers t-shirts (I lost the harley one but wore the OCC t-shirt all the time and we'd regularry wear it at the same time :panic:)
my mrs also whilst on holiday last year bought me a saxo t-shirt as a wind up... tbf I said "wouldn't it be funny showing up to a meet with that t-shirt on with my username in the reg" I ended up paying as I told her I'd never wear it out the house, as that to me is quite sad. May have the passenger seat wearing it at FCS though
A bloke at uni often comes in a ferrari jacket, he also has a jag t-shirt and a renault one.... he drives a corsa B. But he genuinely is a prat. ;)
