my mate bought a car a few weeks back and whilst waiting for the v5 to come back in his name he already sold the car and gave the lad the new keeper supplement and said come back when the v5 is here and well sign it over to you
the lad came back today to sign it and said can i just have the v5 as ive already sold the car on myself. so he gave it him.
is that ok?

not very cleaver as your mate will still be the registered keeper for all tickets/speeding fines etc

well, there is a bit that needs sending to the dvla to say "i no longer own this car" either you or him needs to send that.

keep the v5 and send off your self with date it was sold.

otherwise you will be liable for speeding tickets etc.

just been on dvla and you can contact them saying the REG and the date and time it left his posession and that you no longer own the vehicle so he should be ok :)

yeah mate, should of signed it all over to the first guy, and then let him deal with it for the 2nd guy , ur liable for any tickets or any offences that the car is caught doing, because on paper the guy you sold it to, never owned it.
